Well, that's real fucking nice to know. This nation went to war for oil companies. What a goddamned shame that is.

5. That is so sad. The criminals that are responsible for your
nephew's death are still occupying our precious White House. We the People need to contact our representatives and expect impeachment and arrest for Bush, Cheney, Rove, Rumsfeld and Rice. :dem:

13. It was December 27, 2006
He was my great nephew, the son of my niece, who I grew up with. She is still grieving. I guess you grieve for the rest of your life when you lose a child. You never get over it.

I knew it all along, of course, as many of us on DU did--that this was a war for oil. But, you know, to put the names to it now. The oil companies. Exxon Mobil Chevron. Fuckers. Dirty fuckers. They take our children and use them as cannon fodder and we fucking stand for it. It enrages me.

20. I'm so sorry for your loss.
I'm sure that your nephew served honorably and was proud of his service.

I can't imagine ever getting over the loss of a child, the ache in one's heart must be almost unbearable. If your sister is religious she might find solace in her faith. It also helps to have loved ones around.

God bless!!!

7. Deepest sympathy - it is truly sad
but everyone on DU knew it was all about oil. Anyone who ever accuses me of a tin foil hat again will need one for self protection.

9. All other reasons for the invasion no longer hold water.
Tinfoil hat theory of War for Oil is the only reason left standing.

Plenty of pissed off veterans and families of veterans in Hooville tonight.

Peace

(I refuse to call it a war) and will continue to do so.

12. I hope you don't take this wrong, but he also died for the complicit congress.
Those bastards made a fortune off this war.

I just think that needs to be addressed as part of the equation.

Our congress was complicit in his death and continues to be complicit
in the deaths of those they continue to fund.

They are inside investors and don't give a damn about our kids.

17. The ONLY way I see to stop it is...
If the troops just say no.

Blackwater can't survive in Iraq without the troops either.

The only way this thing will end is when the military says "NO MORE."

The bad news about that is, they have orchestrated
the economy, education and everything else so that
the majority of young people in this country see no
opportunity for a future without enlisting to serve.

I wish we had an island we could offer them shelter on.

18. If you heard Rachel Maddow on Keith Olbermann today, that seems
to be the case. She reduced it down to the fact that of all the explanations to go to war that we were given, that is the simplest and makes the most sense. Tragic isn't it and it's not going to bring your nephew back. My sympathy to you, but we at DU knew this all along and those monsters managed to get their way regardless with the help of some of our leaders as well. All the protests before the war around the world made no difference at all.

The defense contracts were worth one hell of a lot more than the oil will be.

My condolences. We're working very hard to make sure we stop this.
