Will Tim Russert's passing a call for more consciousness of heart health?
The article going around at the office today was the Times one about the Japanese government mandating a 33.5 in waist line, or lower. It all had to do with the cost of health care later in life. Given that Russert was on the stockier side and had this heart fatality this early in life, might raise awareness of diet, weight control and heart health.

3. I think it will depend on what the final assessment of Tim's death is.
A "heart attack" is quite a generic term. Was it a clot? Was it some spasm? It doesn't appear to be heriditary. We'll just have to wait and see.

4. I'd bet for diabetic as the catalyst.
Doesn't diabetes weaken the kidneys, which in turn puts an extra burden on even a healthy heart? Also, with our fatty American diet he could have had undiagnosed atherosclerosis, which did my father in.

5. He hasn't looked well for some time.
At times, during the campaign, he's looked exhausted. He was working too hard. I'm glad he got to vacation with his family before he went.

6. I never thought of Tim Russert has being obese.
Heart disease can be due to problems other than obesity, diet, lack of exercise.

Tim Russert had a very stressful job. He will be sorely missed. My condolences to his family, colleagues and friends.
