GOP Official: If We Only Lose Eight Senate Seats, We Win
a further sign that Republican hopes are fading badly, the head of the Senate GOP's campaign committee has set a new goal for the party this Fall: Not to lose too many Senate seats.

NRSC chair John Ensign has moved the goal posts, according to the Savannah Morning News, saying that the GOP will have succeeded if they don't lose more than eight seats.

Ensign pointed out that if the Dems win nine seats they'll get to the filibuster-proof magic number of 60 -- at which point, Ensign warned, "they will be able to do pretty much whatever they want."

So if the Dems can't get to a 60-seat super-majority, the GOP will have won. Talk about lowering the bar.

13. If we get 60, we need to make Hillary Clinton Senate Majority Leader
I for one would truly enjoy a few years of a senate led by someone with a personal case of the ass against the GOP.

You haven't been paying much attention.
She doesn't have a personal case against the GOP - she likes McCain and Liarman and she used those same GOP operatives and supporters to try to win the nomination. Right now, she isn't too pleased with the DNC and a bunch of the dems in power.

30. Think back a few years...
I don't really think you can get over having government agents rifle through your panties, which happened to Hillary.

If you stick her in charge in the Senate...oh shit...now that Cheney has set the precedent that "fuck" is an acceptable word for senators to use, I wait for the day when she can tell one of the repukes to sit the fuck down, shut the fuck up and remember he's in a dead fucking party.

12. It's still an important bar, though.
How much work never gets done because of Republican selfish immaturity? Time to put the Repubs on the endangered species list and take away some of that Joe Lieberman smugness.

14. as long as we get enough seats to boot Lieberman
out of the Democratic caucus - or, at least strip him of his seniority and of chairmanship of any committees. If that happens, I'll be happy and consider it a victory.

But, getting 9 seats exactly might preclude that because Lieberman would be one of the 60...

16. The best outcome would be 58
Make that 58 Dems, Bernie Sanders, 40 Repubs, and 1 Loserman. Then he will be less relevant than ever, since all the Dems need to do to stop a filibuster is woo away just one. Could be Hagel, or Snow, or Spectre, but as soon as one jumps ship, that leaves poor old Joe holding the anchor.

as they've shown time and again they will filibuster anything and everything. If Dems don't have 60 votes, R's essentially "win".
