Boehner Demands Apology From Waxman for "Abusive Outburst"
By David Kurtz - May 21, 2008, 10:57AM

House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) has reacted angrily to Chairman Howard Waxman's gaveling down of Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) yesterday during a hearing with EPA Administrator Stephen Johnson.

Here's the statement from Boehner:

"Chairman Waxman's behavior in the Oversight & Government Reform Committee yesterday was appalling and beneath the dignity of the House. His abuse of power is further proof that House Democrats have broken their promise to run the most open and honest Congress in history. Moreover, his outrageous threats and intimidation against a fellow Committee colleague were not only unbecoming for a Member of Congress, but frankly, unbecoming for anyone who hopes to be treated as a professional. Chairman Waxman owes an apology to Mr. Issa, his Committee colleagues, and anyone who witnessed his shameful behavior. But more importantly, he owes the American people an apology because these types of heavy-handed threats have no place in the people's House."

Here's the video of the reprehensible Issa rudely interrupting:

Waxman did the right thing, I think Mica will be next, as he is the next biggest whiner on that committee, then Mark Souder, and Dan 'Clinton did it' Burton....

10. Hey, Boner,
Waxman was trying to get Johnson to be open and honest rather than evading the question without exerting executive privelege. If you don't like what Waxman did by rightfully putting Issa in his place, Boner, then you are going to hate this:

Boner, you can:

15. but the VP telling a member of congress to 'go fuck himself' doesn't
warrant an apology. yeah, I can see that. someone told a rethug to shut up. how dare he? maybe we should skip the apology and just string him up. everyone knows you can't talk to rethugs like that. given enough time I'm sure rethugs would pass legislation to that effect.....anyone making rude, derogatory, or dismissive comments about a republican shall be thrown in jail before being hanged by the neck until dead. Anyone making rude, derogatory, or dismissive comments about a Democrat shall be given a new stimulus check and a new tax break.

Cutting off the mikes during a hearing about their crooked elections which I believe was forced into a basement room to begin with. Boner and the rest of them better get used to it. The jig is up for them and they are now just ridiculous.

in Congress after Nov.

Issa ought to go back to selling car alarms or run for govenor again or something. What a piece of crap that guy is.

23. I'm no expert on the rules of order...
...but I'm pretty sure Waxman knows the rules, and knows his prerogatives as chairman of the committee. At least it appeared so from the clip I saw. Waxman ruled that it was Issa who was out of order, as he kept trying to interrupt Waxman while Waxman was questioning the EPA chief.

And of course, it is truly hilarious given the deplorable way the Republics conducted themselves while they were in power for the last several years.

It's about time we had someone who let these asshats know who's running the show.

pursuant to the public interest.

I thought the sanction resorted to by Waxman as a last resort was a perfect vindication of the instituting of the sanction, of the threat to its recourse, and of its effectiveness. Game, set and match. QED. In spades.

Edited on Wed May-21-08 08:02 PM by cynatnite
while one of the Dems were talking. I can't remember his name either. :banghead:

Anyway, that POS Sensenbrenner had a fucking smile on his face as he walked out of the room after shutting down a hearing about the Patriot Act. It was one of the most despicable things I had ever seen.
