QUITE a story: Congressman Cummings Cradled Dying New Father
BALTIMORE (WJZ) ―

Carlos Santay-Carillo never got to see his firstborn son. While getting gas to take his pregnant wife Claudia to the hospital to give birth, he was stabbed five times.

Congressman Elijah Cummings arrived on the scene to get gas just seconds after it happened and got the shock of his life. "It was just a horrifying event. I thought I was dreaming. He was really gasping for air. It just took my breath away to be frank with you," said Congressman Cummings.

Cummings showed Eyewitness News the spot where he cradled the dying man's body in his arms.

"I could see blood just gushing out. I replay it all the time. It doesn't even seem real," said Cummings.

Watch the video (at the upper right of the linked web page). Cummings seems genuinely affected by this. He called a friend of his who speaks Spanish and asked how to say "stay down" and "its going to be alright".

And how tragic. A young father-to-be dead while taking his wife to the hospital to give birth to their first child.

I find it so damned hard to bear the relentless bad news. From all quarters.

Just relentless.

2. I do not think that you could make up any thing worse
That almost makes me want to take a drink. Between the China earthquake and the Burma cyclone and then this I have seen enough for one day. I'm going to bed.

4. another horrible story
When will it ever stop? All the bad in the world seems to outweigh the good. Anyone who feels empathy gets easily and quickly exhausted by it all. Makes me wish i was never born into this horrible horrible world.
