1. That's absolutely right
This was seen as a safe GOP seat. Without Dr. Dean's 50 State Strategy keeping the Miss. state Democratic Party out of bankruptcy, they never would have been able to support Childers adequately. The GOP would have won.

This is why it is so absolutely vital to keep his strategy going, to prevent a return of the party to DLC control with their losing strategy of top-down control and fundraising while allowing parties in "red" states to languish and die.

If anybody needed proof of the validity of Dr. Dean's strategy being the correct one, this race should be it.

18. Best chair the party has ever had in recent memory
I remember Dean delegates at the 2004 convention thinking that Dean as party chair was a good idea. They got together with Kucinich and some Kerry delegates and mounted a campaign to get people to write to their state DNC members. I remember not having a clue as to who they were or how they got chosen, but I learned. Can't even think of a time when grassroots Dems even knew who the DNC chair was, let alone campaigned for a specific candidate. State parties everywhere were please with the influx of newbies and were glad to go along with Dean.

15. Dr. Dean is taking it to the grassroots streets, yes he is.
Giving us more seats with newly elected Democratic representatives from all over the nation.
Howard is muy caliente right now. Party building a bigger, stronger tent, and on target for a
50 state coalition. He is doing all that with one (or two) hand(s) tied behind his back!

Now, we need to help out the State Dem. parties throughout Michigan and Florida. They are FUBAR, and they really do need our support. Embrace the challenge, and it becomes an asset to our party and a testament to our political abilities to honor voters. I think Dean is working on this as we speak.

This party has needed this for so long. Our country, even longer. The Democratic party is being built to last this time. We will keep improving our ability to elect (hopefully) noble leaders and get results for the working people.

Finally, we have the upper hand in many significant ways. This election is historic, and it would come with many thanks to Dean's leadership, and the wave of people who cared enough to get involved and worked harder than ever before to make these amazing changes happen. Way to go all of US!

22. Here's to taking our country back.
Now watch as the DLC tries to say they were on board with the 50-state strategy all along. As if.

Dean had to fight hard to get elected DNC chair in 2005 and then had to stand up to the likes of Rahm Emmanuel and the rest of the Clintonistas to win the 2006 Congressional elections. After that successful election, Emmanuel, who was head of the DCCC, was making victory rounds on the gasbag shows, like it was all his doing. Meanwhile, I was in Ireland right after the 2006 election and heard on the news that the British Labour Party was hiring Dean as a consultant for their elections. The BBC explicitly said that he was the one behind the 50-state strategy.

Thank you, Dr. Dean, for not quitting after they took you down. Thank you for helping us try to take our country. You are one tough Democrat!!!!
