First Responders, you have my sincere admiration.
Looking at Burma, USA tornado-land, China, I am in awe of those who are able to go help. Anyone who is part of a group who is able to go help, I admire you. Anyone who helps support those groups or individuals, I admire you.

My history: I used to work as a nurse in an Emergency room in a hospital, and have been able to help at various crisis going about daily life.

I tried volunteering many years back for some disaster with some organization (I believe it was Mercy Corps) but was too honest at the time to admit I didn't believe in (Capital C) Christian (or would it be fundie?) beliefs, though helping humanity, doing good works has always been a prime focus for me. I was turned down. So I started supporting MSF (doctors without borders).

I helped a little after Katrina, discovering some about my past history (was in a F5 tornado as a toddler and winds/wind damage freaks me out) and that I am physically and psychologically unable to do/be first responder much any more. I may have some medical knowledge, but crisis, death, dying, moving heavy things in heat or cold, not any more. Until it happens here, or I am very much needed.

In tribute to any who are able to go help, where help is needed, urgently, you have my sincere admiration. For those who live where help is needed, urgently, you have my sympathy/empathy and best wishes.
