So let me get this straight....

I filed taxes, and made less than 20,000 but more than 3,000 - so, yeah - I'm poor.

However, I didn't owe any additional taxes, because the money withheld in taxes was the right amount.

But, since I didn't owe any additional taxes, I don't get a rebate?

Even though I made less than 20,000 last year? Am I mistaken about this? I read something somewhere that said look at line 37 in our 1040A and if you have less than 600$ there you'll get less. Well, I have zero because I didn't owe any additional taxes. But I still paid taxes? I thought the point of the rebate was relief for people hit hard by the terrible economy? I was going to pay my rent with this. :/

1. you will get your rebate
I actually got money back from the federal government when I filled my 1040A this year, but I still will be getting my rebate.

The rebate is not dependent on if you owed additional taxes or not when you filled.

2. Have you tried using a rebate calculator? Here's one from Kiplinger.

3. The "stimulus" is based on your tax liability throughout 2007, not whether or not you got a refund

On form 1040A you need to add line 35 + line 32 to get your taxes paid in 2007.

http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=181991,00.html

"NOTE: Don’t be confused. Net income tax liability is not the same as the amount of tax withheld from your pay, the amount of your refund or the balance due on your return.

Your stimulus payment is equal to your net income tax liability, but no more than $600, if you are single, or $1,200, if you are married filing a joint return."

Hope this helps.

I had a question as I'm behind on my student loans, but I haven't got to the point where they will take my "rebate".
Thank God, I sure do need it.
