Repukes Get A Hung Jury, So They Send The FBI To ''Talk'' With Jurors
FBI's calls upset jurors in Wecht trial

By Carl Prine and Jason Cato
TRIBUNE-REVIEW
Friday, April 11, 2008

Two jurors said Thursday they were unnerved by FBI requests for home visits to explain why they deadlocked in the federal public corruption trial of former Allegheny County coroner Cyril H. Wecht. Experts said the practice of using FBI agents to contact and interview jurors in their homes after mistrials was unusual, but the U.S. Attorney's Office in Pittsburgh characterized it as "commonplace."

"I thought it was kind of intimidating," the jury foreman said about the FBI phone call. Said another juror, "I found it kind of unusual." Both men requested not to be identified.

The FBI agents simply set up appointments for federal prosecutors, said Margaret Philbin, spokeswoman for U.S. Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan. "It is commonplace for the prosecuting attorneys and the investigating agency, in this case the FBI, to participate in the post-verdict discussion with the jurors," Philbin said in a statement. "Often that occurs before the jury leaves the courthouse. In this case the jury was excused before the attorneys and agents had an opportunity to speak with the members."

1. If you don't give us the verdict we want, we'll sic the FBI on you! Take that! Seriously, this is
way out of line. Like no one else could have called to set up appointments? Since when did we begin using FBI agents as admin assistants for DOJ? Rec'd

4. Jesus Christ. Oh man I'd love to be one of those jurors. First, out comes my video camera...
...and then I can only tease myself with what kind of questions I'd ask them. God, that would be a hoot.

Better than the conversations with (evangelical religion of your choice) when they come to the door.

5. Jury tampering ... I guess its a crime if you're gang member ......
.... but it doesn't apply to *all* gangs ...... the Feds being a gang to which it doesn't apply.

"Fuck you, America. We're the GOVERNMENT."

10. But by doing this....
...they leave themselves open to an automatic appeal for jury intimidation. Its the kind of ham-handed act we've come to expect from these Neanderthals.

- The DOJ will require an high-colonic upon Obama's taking office...

7. How much you want to bet Wecht is a Democrat? Let me look it up.
Well, well, what a shocking, shocking surprise, in the article itself:

Wecht is a Democrat and Buchanan a Republican.

My my, the Bushies certainly are speeding along with their criminal attempts to turn us into a kinder and gentler Nazi Germany.

Bushstapo sent to the homes of recalcitrant jurors who went against "The Party".

11. Absolutely.
November can't come soon enough for me. But I imagine that they'll all go down on their swords at this point. Like Fredo. Those that are left anyway.

- Those who wouldn't, have already left....

20. And Wecht has never been quiet about his doubts about the official story of JFK's murder
Many of them stemming from the poorly done autopsy. And Wecht has enough expertise in that area that his opionion can't be written off as a crackpot.

14. Is it remotely possible that it isn't sinister?
That the FBI occasionally has to investigate whether a jury has been tampered with, threatened, bribed, etc? And that would involve speaking with the jurors.

I don't know the particulars of this case.

19. IT IS COMMON for FBI agents to do this? REALLY! PROVE IT!!!
This is the first I've heard of FBI agents knocking on jurors' doors,...unless, there was some suspicion of tampering.

Why is this guy being targeted? I have to ask.

22. Exactly!!
Unless jury tampering was suspected why in the hell would any juror be bothered? After the verdict is ion or it is over I would tell them to go to hell. None of their damned business why I voted the way I did. This is awful and a good example of the fascist garbage that the stench of the scumbag Bush / Cheney cabal has spewed all over the government.

Those agents should be ashamed to be used as tools of illegal and immoral pressure and intimidation, and those Atty.'s General should be driven from office asap. Sickening. If every juror just said" I never talk to law enforcement or an adversarial government employee without an attorney present. Goodbye " , maybe the rascals would stop this disgusting nonsense.
