Encouraging news from Red country.
One of my relatives is a county office holder near a major city in the midwest. Republicans have held that county practically forever. He's just won the primary contest, but I just heard that he's expecting a hard contest in the general. I asked why -- isn't it a Republican county? The answer -- maybe not now -- a lot more Democrats than Republicans turned out for the primary. I said, well wasn't that just Republicans trying to "mess up" the Democratic primary? The answer: no, this was before Limbaugh started trying to get Republicans to do that.

So at least one Republican family is worried about the trend they're seeing.

I wish my relative luck . . . finding a more meaningful career.

1. Dems turned out here in big numbers too
But it was a contested primary. This red part of Calif , I predict will stay red, in spite of the large Dem numbers. I dare not hope
