1. And The Real Ratings WInner...

ESPN draws on the average of 4-6 million viewers each night...and in the universe of the cable TV world, the news channel are a backwater...ratings and money pits that are subsidized by a large corporate entity to keep operating. It's the Simpsons, Family Guy, American Idol and the Fox TV network that helps pay Hannity's check.

FYI...here are other top rated shows:

http://www.tvsquad.com/2008/03/12/nielsen-cable-ratings-for-the-week-ending-march-9/

1. College Basketball - Duke vs. NC (ESPN)
2. SpongeBob SquarePants (Nickelodeon)

3. Project Runway (Bravo)
4. WWE Monday Night RAW (USA)
5. WWE Monday Night RAW (USA)
6. SpongeBob SquarePants (Nickelodeon)
7. SpongeBob SquarePants (Nickelodeon)
8. SpongeBob SquarePants (Nickelodeon)
9. SpongeBob SquarePants (Nickelodeon)
10. Election Coverage (CNN)

Note: This survey is for 3/9 (following Texas & Ohio...a big night for CNN)

Remember, Faux Noise is a lonely-hearts club...the only place the wingnuts can tune to hear the propaganda they need to keep up their hatred...in a cable TV world where on any given night 25-50 million people are tuned in, the Faux Noise world is truly a small and shrinking one.

2. Putting on the tin foil hat.
According to today's business standards, to cheat is to win. Look at the fake AAA ratings on what is essentially junk bonds. I just have a hard time believing anyone watches O'Lielly. I think the ratings are rigged.

4. Ratings Don't Mean Popularity...
From one who used to read these type of numbers for a living, I can attest how numbers can be fudged and how misleading they are.

These "beauty pagent" numbers (what I used to call 18-49) are that...numbers. They don't tell you anything more than 3 million TV sets were tuned for at least a few minutes on that channel. You need to go inside the numbers (that are very, very, very hard to find) to see what's really going on. This includes looking at specific democraphics...the 25-54 numbers are used more often in sales and the 18-49 ones. Also these are "cume" numbers...it's like having people look inside your store window...how many come is and how many buy that matter.

The numbers aren't rigged...they're just that...numbers.
