latest right wing spin on Gore...Bush is greener.
http://www.commondreams.org/views01/0429-03.htm
Read this today posted by a rightie...compared this to Al Gore just recently switching his home to green power, when by golly, Bush went green years ago. and from commondreams no less...

:banghead:

Bush Loves Ecology -- At Home
by Rob Sullivan

The 4,000-square-foot house is a model of environmental rectitude.

Geothermal heat pumps located in a central closet circulate water through pipes buried 300 feet deep in the ground where the temperature is a constant 67 degrees; the water heats the house in the winter and cools it in the summer. Systems such as the one in this "eco-friendly" dwelling use about 25% of the electricity that traditional heating and cooling systems utilize.

A 25,000-gallon underground cistern collects rainwater gathered from roof runs; wastewater from sinks, toilets and showers goes into underground purifying tanks and is also funneled into the cistern. The water from the cistern is used to irrigate the landscaping surrounding the four-bedroom home. Plants and flowers native to the high prairie area blend the structure into the surrounding ecosystem.

No, this is not the home of some eccentrically wealthy eco-freak trying to shame his fellow citizens into following the pristineness of his self-righteous example. And no, it is not the wilderness retreat of the Sierra Club or the Natural Resources Defense Council, a haven where tree-huggers plot political strategy.

This is President George W. Bush's "Texas White House" outside the small town of Crawford.

2. It's the Imperial Hog Farm.
How does bush get to the Imperial Hog Farm? Flapping his arms?

How much security detail and additional transportation mode for that security detail does the world's most hated man use as he goes back and forth with THE MOST VACATION DAYS EVER to his Imperial Hog Farm?

Pfffft!

That's akin to saying George Washington was the first president.

That wacky right wing spin machine knows it can't fool all of us all the time. It doesn't have to.

7. Boss - I personally know people who think that since Gore didn't green his house out
until recently, that he has ZERO credibility. Doesn't matter that he's been preaching on climate change for YEARS. It so frustrating sometimes...and tiring. Now they really think Bush is greener cuz his house has been greener than Al's longer. ugh.

9. Hang in there my friend
bush doesn't even know what green means. Heard on NPR yesterday morning he had to ask daddy what a neocon was. And those who are casting aspersions on President Gore are the ignorant trash members of bush's base who exist only to hate what they don't know. They are getting their marching orders right now from limbaugh who is telling them who to hate.

There is no frustration in not accepting right wing ignorance and pride.

5. Bush didn't build the house.
He didn't help design it. It was what was available when he went looking for a "ranch".

30. He did actually have it built.
Just in time for the 2000 election.

As a new house, it could include environmentally friendly features that an older house would have to have retrofitted.

Nonetheless, it's a joke that Bush is more concerned about the environment than Gore. A sick joke by a party that thinks that one house with green elements makes Bush Gore's equal. Same superficial crap they pulled with Bush's "honorable service" in the TANG compared to Gore's and Kerry's volunteering to go to Vietnam and Kerry's courage in combat. Chip away at your opponent's strength so that the two candidates are seen as similar in an area in which they are actually quite different -- brought to you by Karl Rove and the Smear Boat Liars.

16. In the words of the immortal Suzanne Sugarbaker, "Big woo!"
Imagine. A remote ranch being on catchment water. That puts Bush** in the elite company of... oh, about half of Hawai'i's Big Island, for instance: the county water lines simply don't extend out that far. As for the geothermal system, great. He happens to be one of about .01 percent of Americans who are directly on top of the resource. Gore couldn't duplicate that unless he were to move to someplace else that has it (Sonoma County would be within commute distance of Current TV, come to think).

23. Okay, what am I missing?
I read the whole article, and don't find it the least bit flattering to the chimp. I think it makes him like a hypocrite. I also don't see what this has to do with Gore - he's not even mentioned in the article.

Rob Sullivan's name doesn't even appear on their web page. I had to pull up his articles using their search function. This article isn't something that was posted on their site today.

26. This might be my ignorance speaking, but don't you have to be greener out in the country?
Namely, because there's no such thing as public utilities, isn't there a force to make one be green for reasons other than protecting the environment.

27. Call MSNBC Now!
A segment just aired on the show Tucker spreading the Drudge/Tennesse Center story. This show re-airs at 6PM. Call MSNBC now and demand that they cut this segment from the repeat.

Be sure to make the following points:

1 - The Tennessee Center offered no proof of their accusations. Carlson treated them as if they were true without proof.

2- They failed to address that Gore's home is powered by Green Switch.

3-The only guest on to comment was Fred Smith of the Competitive Enterprise Institute which is a Exxon funded think tank. No spokesman for the other side was featured.

Call MSNBC now at (201) 583-5000.

28. This is a repeat of what they did to Pelosi. Now, I know we can trash public
figures all we want, but doesn't a responsible news outlet have an obligation to check facts? If they report stories that they know are not true, or could check the veracity of, or could at least report the fact that the story may not be true - aren't they slandering Al Gore just like they slandered Pelosi? If it's not slander, it should be considered a contribution to the RNC.

Sleep tight knowing that after bush consigns us to nuclear war, the little fucker that started it will live on. He's not dependent on the power grid like you are. Bush doesn't rely on the public like you do. Green my ass.

32. Gore had a heat pump installed in the VP residence
http://www.usno.navy.mil/pao/star/Oct00_Star.pdf

It's the same type that Bush's architect ended up selecting for the Crawford house. However, it seems that Bush doesn't know much about it (and surely if he had chosen it, he would have done some background reading?). I remember reading somewhere else that "the decider" expressed no wishes for "Prairie Chapel" beyond a comfortable bed and adequate water pressure in the shower.

"But even more efficient, however, is the transference of heat and cool as a result of circulating water below the -- it's called thermal heating and cooling -- okay."
