2. Hubby bought a small amount of gold earlier this week
and its value has already increased $8. That tells me the dollar is shrinking FAST.

15. Not really, no. That involves thinking about how deep the hole we
were born into is and how difficult it will be to get out. If we were to really consider this issue, and I'm talking about the genpop of DU, not the 2 dozen of us that have been talking about this for years or decades, it would lead to thinking about a very large number of things that we are very comfortable ignoring.

That's the problem, the whole game is rigged and has been for generations. Once you start questioning, it leads to challenging cherished fantasies, which leads to realizations of inherent and unnecessary inequities, which forces admissions of a life lived in servitude to other's demands, which points out our relative helplessness, which makes us angry, and we can't have that.

It is just much easier to take the blue pill and pretend it can't happen here.

18. But if you look at it this way...
just 10 years ago that same prostitute would have cost you 500 bucks and the high dollar one would have run you 2750. Yet another reason to love Bill.

19. The dollar is dropping rapidly against the yen
At the beginning of this year, then yen had been about 110 to the dollar for a couple of months, after coming from about 115, where it had been for most of 2007.

During this month, it went to 103 and hung around there for a while. Within this week, it has gone to 100 plus a few decimal places per dollar.

If this trend continues, the dollar will be weaker against the yen than at any time since about 1991. The difference is that Japan has had very low inflation since then, so the situation is actually worse than it seems. :scared:

The only silver lining here is that most of my pay rates are figured in yen.
