He went into a tirade attacking one of our Dem candidates (guess who), and accused her of having trashed John KERRY (sic) "out of the race" by being Machiavellian and treacherous and totally nasty, when she interpreted his joke about flunking-out-going-to-Iraq "in the worst possible way" (instead of taking it at its best interpretation).

When was KERRY *in* this (2008) race? Later, BROKAW corrected him and told him he meant John EDWARDS. Tweety denied it and said he was referring to KERRY and his joke and BROKAW backed down.

Whatever it was, it made no sense, beyond his palpable hatred.

4. It is likely Hillary wins 3 out of 4 tonight.

THIS is important. Hilary consistently and today is winning among
Democrats. She is winning the base of the party. Tweety has lost
all judgment because his favorite can win with GOP, INdies and
African Americans. Further he knows Hillary has won the states
that a Democrat must win if she/he is to have a prayer against
MCCAIN.

If the projection proves out---Hillary has stopped Obamas momemtum.

I changed channels -- his disdain for Hilary is toxic.

5. Kerry was speaking at a California rally...

...in Pasadena in support of Phil Angelides who was running for Governor. It was during the time Kerry was gearing up...possibly for a 2008 presidential run...and Kerry was working hard to get Democrats elected to the House and Senate in 2006. (The fact that we took BOTH was, in large part, due to his hard work). Barbara Boxer was there, too. Kerry was tired and told a joke badly (one he had used before). The Republicans pounced on it and spun it as an attack on the troops (expected from them). His Senate colleague Hillary Clinton, however, agreed with them (not expected from her)...when she could have defended Kerry.

It was right after that that Kerry publicly announced his decision not to run again.

It wasn't Edwards, it was Kerry. I attended the rally. This is the first time I've heard Chris Matthews discuss it, though. It's about time!!

8. He's Been Insuferable Tonight...

I saw that rant about Hillary along with his threat of some 7 week scorched-earth campaign that he expects to help his man-swoon Gramps McLame.

What was even goofier was Brian Williams going orgasmic in giving the McLame story...comparing him to Churchill and how he jumped in the Lkae in Saigon (it was he was pushed in the lake in Hanoi, Brian)...but why let facts get in the way of a good mancrush.

9. Last night I was finished with him

He just couldn;t get over Hillary saying she take Obama at his word that he's no Moslem. He badgered every single guest to say she was wrong or something for not defending Barack more vigorously. Most wouldn't bite til finally he got one to say she was wrong. I couldn't watch it today Keith either.

Tweety started to wax and wax on his supposed total knowledge, inch by inch, of his native Pennsylvania, and said that it was a place where the young people grow up and move away, and how the eastern part looks to NY and the western to the Midwest, and on and on.

When it was over, BROKAW said, "I'm surprised at you writing off your state as being hard to cover. Your friends back there have told me you never GREW UP, but you DID move away!1"


There was laughter from the crew and others in the background, but Tweety stifled it. Plus, whenever they show the SNL piece totally skewering G.E.RUSSERT, GE totally ignores it.
