He actually played the "impassioned plea" routine to restore his "integrity." There's lots of footage, all of it makes him look like a "straight talker" and someone who had no intention of being nefarious.

I don't think that old story will hunt.

Remember how people pissed at Murtha's coming out about the war tried to pull up ABSCAM and denigrate him with it? It'll stick about as well...that is to say, it won't.
