If the 'stimulus' checks are treated as income, will OASDI/HI be paid on them?
Why not just deposit those checks to the Social Security accounts of the recipients and kill two birds with one stone? After all, an injection of billions to the Social Security system might be all it needs besides paying people a bit more fairly.

Yeah, I know ... that'd keep SOME of the money out of the grubby paws of the corporatists.

2. I thought the stimulus was a refund on taxes. For very low
income people who don't pay much in taxes, it won't be any help to them and they are the ones who need it the most. The rest of us will be paying credit card bills of goods already bought, which is where the stimulus package was aimed at so there won't be much new spending. Those who are rich can invest it. Again there is very little spending. Which genius dreamed this one up or, did I misunderstand it?
