The Power of Positive Thinking. Anyone want to join me?
Edited on Thu Jan-31-08 08:17 AM by Pacifist Patriot
Yesterday I got a bit down in the dumps...and that was before Edwards dropped out. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x4285358 for the morbidly curious.

So this morning I resolved to think more positively or I was going to throw something. Possibly a small child. Which as we all know is not exactly a progressive thing to do.

Pitt's thread on Edwards for AG got me thinking about how to assemble a Democratic Dream Team. So assuming we have a Democrat elected to the Presidency in November, let's see what we can do to put together the most kick ass cabinet (with maybe a few bonus positions thrown in).

Despite our almost pathological detestation of rules, I feel compelled to present a few.

Rule 1: No speculating who the President is.
Rule 2: Nominee must be a Democrat (and a living one at that).
Rule 3: No buzz crushes insisting McCain will be President.
Rule 4: If you think this is stupid just ignore the thread rather than piss on my cornflakes.
Rule 5: Please take it moderately seriously. I would love to learn more about Democrats out there that I may have never heard of. I'm sure there are Governors, Reps, Senators, Lawyers, Activists, etc. who would be perfects fits that I have never encountered before. I'd like to broaden my horizons.

Thanks!

1. I'd like to see Kucinich have a cabinet post
He has great ideas, especially on health care and jobs. So a post involving either would be great.
Al Gore should have a cabinet post as well. Wes Clark should be involved with international policy in some way or another, as should Gov. Richardson. What should NOT be allowed to happen is allowing corporate lobbyists to have ANY influence over legislation or appointments--but I'm not holding my breath.

3. Great minds think alike. I included all of those men....on reflection I removed Gore.

Love the man, but I decided he didn't need to be on the Dream Team. More valuable elsewhere.

5. Thanks. I was hoping more people would want to play.
I'm having fun looking up people I'd never really encountered before and learning more about them.

7. Thanks, I just looked her up. I have to admit I don't think I've heard the name before.
How awful is that? I love her comment about dressing like a first grader. :) Good question, where would she go?

8. Since you have over 1000 posts and never heard of her before,
I have to ask: Which planet do you live on?

10. The planet of...
three small kids, homeschooling two, one graduate program, a part-time minister with a wedding business on the side. Can't tell you the last time I listened to a radio. The only reason I'm here today is because I'm deligently avoiding writing a term paper.

That might make a catchy tune.
