Oliver Stone to direct new introspective on "BUSH"
http://thinkprogress.org/2008/01/21/oliver-stones-bush/

Oliver Stone’s ‘Bush.’

Daily Variety writes that film director Oliver Stone “has set his sights on his next directing project, ‘Bush,’ a film focusing on the life and presidency of George W. Bush.” He has chosen actor Josh Brolin to play the leading part. Stone told Variety that he wants this movie to be a deep introspective:

Here, I’m the referee, and I want a fair, true portrait of the man. How did Bush go from an alcoholic bum to the most powerful figure in the world? It’s like Frank Capra territory on one hand, but I’ll also cover the demons in his private life, his bouts with his dad and his conversion to Christianity, which explains a lot of where he is coming from. It includes his belief that God personally chose him to be president of the United States, and his coming into his own with the stunning, preemptive attack on Iraq. It will contain surprises for Bush supporters and his detractors.

1. To me
Will Ferrell is the only one to capture Bushes astute cluelessness with his bout of nasty self center meanness.

10. they'd have to find a really mean chimp, though ...
One that just lives to dance a little jig of glee, once he's gotten back at people he thinks have slighted him.

That's my main complaint about that Bush impersonator, Steve Bridges -- and even Timothy Bottoms. They can do the "clueless" part, but the petty cruelty just isn't there.

I'd like to know this myself. All I can figure is that when your name is connected and your Daddy's friends need a puppet well there you go.

8. You KNOW in your heart that GW was "Plan B". Jeb was "Plan A'
and the nitwit, Neil --the most stupidest of the three, btw -- he is apparently "Plan 9", as in Plan 9 From Outer Space"

4. I wonder if there's going to be a scene....
...where the actor portraying President Insane is maniacally pumping his ellipitical machine or mountain bike while shouting, "Air Assault! Air Assault! Air Assault!" with a crazed look on his face.

5. I want to see a scene of Bush sprawled on the Oval Office carpet praying
face down, the way aides supposedly have found him to do on occasion.

6. Any "... fair, true portrait of the man" about Bush can't escape
being a hit piece. He is currently the most despised man on the planet for very real and legitimate reasons. Only in a Country as politically dysfunctional as America could he still be allowed out on the streets rather than in prison.

9. I don't think anyone has gotten into his head
really. His astrology chart says he is just faking the outside and does not really know who he is. I have a hard time seeing him doing anything at all when the presidency is over.

14. He put on a very good performance in No Country for Old Men.
I would not recommend the movie itself as I thought the script sucked and the movie as a whole was highly overrated, but the acting was perfect. I don't quite picture him playing Bush, but he certainly is a competent actor.
