Vignettes from the Nevada Democratic presidential forum

ASSOCIATED PRESS
<snip>
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich brought a crowd of 300 people to its feet Wednesday at a newspaper office with a roaring speech in which he called for Congress to deny funding for the Iraq war.

"Bring the troops home!" Kucinich thundered three times to a whooping and whistling crowd at The Nevada Appeal.

He also jabbed at his opponents who voted for war.

"We had an audition for president in October, 2002," he said, referring to Congress' vote on the Iraq war.

He said it was always clear there was no connection between al-Qaida and Iraq.

"That's not what the war was about. What was it about?" he asked, to which the crowd answered with a roar, "Oil!"

1. I've always liked Kucinich
Unfortunately, I just never thought he was electable. I still don't think he would be electable, but I have to say, he impressed the hell out of me at that forum.

When I saw it the other day, I just sat there saying, DAMN!

He really kicked ASS!

4. I feel the same, but I'm going to support him nonetheless
As a realist I understand he probably won't get the nomination, but if enough of us rally behind what he's saying, whoever is the nominee will have to address it in order to win us over.

2. What a great opening:
paraphrased: "It must be difficult to be a candidate for president, and to come to the American people and say that you were misled, (etc.) by.......
George Bush."

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

All the talking points and spin in the world will not undo that point.

I'm listening now. He sounds clear and strong so far.

7. At the risk of being pummeled, I thought he was less than great
I'm really beginning to find Kucinich just unbearable. I think his posturing, and puffing himself up about how he's the only one who recognized this or that, is well, unappealing. I think he panders. And I hated his little look Ma, no strings, performance.

9. I did find myself wishing he had stopped after one or two "No Strings"
at the end there. Otherwise, I loved what he said.

(I hope that didn't come across as a pummeling). :evilgrin:
