Early results MUST be absentee votes, correct?
Edited on Tue Jan-08-08 07:54 PM by jackstraw45
According to New Hampshire law:

"After all absentee ballots have been processed, or processed and counted, as provided in RSA 659:49-55 and after the polls have closed, the election officials, except those disqualified in accordance with RSA 659:58, shall, under the supervision of the moderator, immediately begin counting the votes cast at the election."

1. Most polls closed at 7:00pm ET.
Those are the ones being counted now.

4. A few are open until 8:00pm
Apparently, they don't wait for them to close to start counting the 7:00pm areas.

5. Absentee ballots are often not counted until much later not on election
night. At least not in my state and most that I have knowledge of. They are usually counted after the hoopla is over and usually not enough to change the outcome of any but the very closest races.

In this case, it could be other precincts with special hours (not unlike Dixville Notch) that have local hours assigned to them for one reason or another that don't fit the norm for the rest of the state. Just a guess, though I don't think they are absentees at all.

8. Yeah... Dixville Notch is the major, sprawling metropolis of New Hampshire.
