The panel on MSNBC mentioned something that gave me a new perspective on Obama.
I've always liked him, but his lack of experience made me a bit uneasy because of all the challenges the next president will face. However, the MSNBC panel mentioned something that Obama has been saying in his stump speeches:

"Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld had plenty of experience."

Damn! I never thought of it that way before ... but he's absolutely right.

Five minutes earlier, we had been talking about his lack of experience and when we heard that comment, we both looked at each other and felt like complete idiots for not realizing it ourselves. :dunce:

1. Having an open mind and being willing to work with others is more important.
I don't give a shit about Obama's lack of experience. He won't be sitting in the WH by himself.

3. I've been going back and forth between Obama and Edwards for weeks
I really do like them both and I see pros and cons with each of them. Experience is just one of the issues I've been thinking about, but it's certainly not the only one. However, I can honestly say that MSNBC removed the "experience" issue from my list. :-)

5. The mess the next president is going to have to clean up will be immense.
Just because the Bush administration are total screwups doesn't mean that just about anyone replacing them is acceptable or desirable.

I think experience does count, and will matter with proliferation of nuclears weapons, global warming, and loss of American prestige in the world. The problems just seem to go on and on: the destabilization of the middle class, the demands for alternative energy and so on. We need the most experienced, most skilled, most knowledgeable people to take over the Executive Office.

No more Heck of Job of Brownies.

7. Experienced people will be necessary, but ...
as we found out with BushCo, we need people with the RIGHT experience and a president who uses good judgment and common sense when selecting those people. :-)

And Obama has done a lot of work on this issue.

The bill to monitor and (try to) control loose nukes in the former Soviet Union bears his name.

6. Also remember the old saying:
"Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want."

Just sayin' :D

12. Experience and Agenda are two different things. Yes they had experience BUT
the fuckers also had an agenda. That was the problem.

That didn't make them fuck shit up, though they did. That made the fuckers DANGEROUS.

FURTHERMORE...BUSH had no foreign policy. He depended on dick, don and the others....and Bush's lack of knowledge and depending on his evil fucker counterparts was a recipe for WWIII

13. That was my point. Experience alone means nothing.

Judgment, intent and (as you said) agenda are the things that matter most. I'm annoyed with myself for not realizing that sooner. I got so hung-up on the whole "experience" thing that I really didn't think it through.
