Kathleen Reardon: My Husband's Farewell To The Times
My husband, Chris Noblet, just sent this to The New York Times. Feel free to use it as a model for your e-mail to them.

"I have read the Times for over three decades, have many times been a home subscriber, and have been a premium internet subscriber since you offered the service. Many times, I have emailed friends and associates with interesting Times articles. Many years, in many places, such as Connecticut, Manhattan and California, I subscribed to the paper edition of the Times.

As a former journalist, I admired the Times immensely. As a corporate communications professional for many years, I worked with the Times on numerous occasions, and in the last 15 years have been very disappointed to see the slippage in the quality and objectivity of your reporters.

I accepted, even occasionally admired, William Safire. I accepted David Brooks.

All that said, if you hire William Kristol, it will be the final cut. You will have betrayed everything I have ever admired in the Times. I am serious about this. I will terminate my email and any premium subscription. I will no longer purchase the Times or the Herald Tribune at newsstands. My interest in the success of your publication will cease, and I will get all my news from elsewhere. Any regrets I may have will be assuaged by my knowledge that your hiring of that arrogant, blockheaded, smirking, war-mongering scumbag proves you have finally lost your way."

I probably would have left out "scumbag." But it wouldn't have been easy!

2. Put a powdered wig on Kristol
and tell me if he doesn't look like he should have a guillotine in his near future.

I don't mean that as a threat at all he is just so smug and acts so entitled and the worst part is that as a freakin' legacy he STILL couldn't get published and had to get a hand out from Murdoch and the Weekly Standard STILL hasn't ever made any money!!

great letter.

6. I truly think the times has hired Kristal so that they can seem balanced
when they unleash hell on the * Administration. Kristal is an idiot. Nobody will take him seriously. Meanwhile the Times can put up editorials that envicerate the neocons all the while calling themselves balanced.

Perhaps it is just wishful thinking on my part...perhaps I am a little too polyannaish. But that is how I see it today.

7. I had the same thought....until I remembered that every time we look for a
fair reason the NYT's acts for the Bush Administration we are proved wrong. That at one time one could have thought they were tired of having the Repugs label them as the "LIBERAL NYT" ...but it's too late for that. And, while I might have a small sliver of hope that Kristol's hiring means the NYT will be letting lose some incredible stories on more of the Bush Crime Family's doings....I won't be holding my breath or disappointed when they act in their usual way as a stovepipe for the NEO-CONS who refuse to admit they illegally pushed us into a war with Iraq, are still looking for a way to invade Iran and who won't ever stop until the whole ME is safe for their true country of loyalty. They will bring our country down and kill and maime millions in other countries for their own war profit and the NYT and WaPO and the rest of the Corporate Media will be handing them more and more opportunities to do it.

11. I did see that Editorial...but it's drop in the bucket to make up for Judy MIller and NEO-Cons
who used NYT as a Stovepipe/Conduit for the Bush Crime Family. Just one Kristol or Brooks article wipes out that thing Editorial which really absolved Chimp & Co. of their WAR CRIMES.

IT's not enough...what NYT and WaPO do is ENABLING AND EXCUSING. IT's their other writers who EVERYDAY..counteract an Editorial or two that "seems"..."seems" to be speaking the Truth about the Bush/Cheney Crime Family. :-(

9. Times scumbaggery indeed
Is hiring Kristol somehow to makeup for the Judith Miller fiasco, and the way the Times totally disgraced itself and so-called American journalism with that crapola.

10. Is hiring Bill Kristol supposed to help The Times compete against
Murdock's Journal?
