I mean, ALL of these front runners are a wet dream for the Dems.

Even Johm M. would have a hard time overcoming his history.

I can't foresee any Repub nominee that can win against ANY Dem candidate.

2. I am fully expecting a battle royale including mass voter hazing, machine rigging, and...
any other dirty/illegal action the Pukes can dream up.

We need to overcome a system wide 10% bias.

3. John McCain could be a tough one to beat.
A lot of independents still like him. They are blind to the fact that he is exactly like bush and follows in his footsteps.

5. He is the most electable, other than the fact that he's supported GWB in all his endevours
I don't mind if he gets the nomination, because I think any of the Dem frontrunners would have no problem with him.

McCain should have beaten Bush for the Repub nomination and had a shot at Prez back then. That was a damn shame.
I think if he was Prez Iraq would not have happened.
Now, it's too late for him.

15. Which is exactly why he'll never get the Repub nomination.
Independents like him. The party faithful despise him.

6. according to the average of several polls Edwards appears as the only ...
one that ties or beats McCain in head on contest. All others lose in one or more of the polls....for all thats worth. But is does go to the issue as to who is the strongest Repug against the DEMs. All DEMs but Richardson and Kucinich win in heads on against all Repugs.

11. Thats my fear
The Republics nominate Huckabee, and he "wins", like Bush "won" 2000.

Then we have a fundie as president.

16. In order to steal, it has to be somewhat close. This one won't even be close
you might have noticed, there's 0 energy on the rightwing fundy side of things this time around.

and Huckleberry is speaking now. Said the "borders" quote was taken out of context, said that he would strike militarily in Pakistan, hopelessly trying to dig himself out of a hole. He is a hole.

He just said that he stands "beside" his statements. Then he said that he stands behind "most" of his own statements. I suppose that will be taken out of context, too. His statements of his policies are incoherent.

What a clueless ass.

12. Go Huck!
If we're lucky enough to get the Huckster as an opponent, we can finally get even for the Dukakis debacle. Huck would win one, maybe two states. The guy is certifiable, and it shows.

17. I want Fred Thompson
I don't think he is going to get it, but he would provide a lot of laughs if he did. The guy may well be the dumbest person to be a serious contender for the Presidency in history, and that is saying a lot.

18. That would be a dream. I didn't even mention him, since I consider it an immposibility.
He screwed himself with his Inhofe-esque comments on global warming, although his obvious lack of knowledge and ability would have screwed him anyway.

If he - by some miracle - takes it, I will be dancing on the streets.

20. They've Marginalized Themselves And Now They're Eating Their Own
Happy Gnu Ears all...

Just a reminder that, despite all the polls and the "convetional wisdom", this year's elections will not be a cakewalk or landslide...they will be hard-fought, but IMHO, not only worth it, but an election that could lead to the destruction of the Repugnican party...but these slime buckets won't go down easy.

The primaries have force all these candidates more and more to the right (far more to the right than any Democrat has "pandered" to the left). The divisions and bad blood between the campaigns has split along "core" ideological lines...similar to the fractures we saw in the Democrats in the 70's and 80's that opened the door to Raygun and the ensuing destruction of this republic. Whomever wins will be hard-pressed to "rally the base". If it's Romney or Rudy, the church busses are sure to sit empty in Florida and Ohio. If it's McCain, the "fiscal conservatives" will be loathe to support a guy who rejected both boooosh tax cuts. The Huckster is the GOOP equivelent of a Howard Dean...or the Howard Dean of 2004...an outsider that's making a lot of waves, but still and outsider who needs to be put in his place. And then there's Ron Paul, who I still strongly predict will bolt third party and be the Ross Perot of this election.

Democrats must keep their eyes on the ball all the way here. Our current disagreements on candidates have to be discussed and either resolved or reconciled...and have a national party that can put the acrimony of the long primary season behind and work toward the ultimate goal of making Repugnicans a minority party for years to come.
