Iran is PROVOKING US? Gimme an effin break.
We send three carrier groups, probably the most devastating collection of war power ever amassed on the water. We drive those tubs half way around the world and park them at the shores of Iran.

Iran demonstrates a couple of things - they can lay mines, and they have supercruise anti ship cruise missiles. (which we cannot defend against easily. if at all. Raytheon takes tens of billions of taxpayer dollars each year and still can't get their systems to work)

Because of that our top admiral, now in charge of all forces in IraqNam, claims that this equates to Iran provoking us into a warlike stance.

un the effin believ able.

2. Yeah it's all Orwellian double speak

Accuse the people you want to attack of the very thing you yourself are
doing.

Every bully knows this trick.

I was thinking that if Iran really wanted a Nuclear weapon(s)
they would just buy them from North Korea.

Maybe they have for all I know.

3. From an Iranian viewpoint, the US has been an enemy ever since the Shah was propped up.
Now Iran faces US hegemony in Afghanistan, Pakistan (at least nominal hegemony) and combat troops of the US and UK (not for long, as they are taking their cricket bats and going back to Blighty)and the US playing footsy with all the other __stans nearby.

Geez, with the Sunni Wahhabi monarchists across the straits, who needs a new enemy?

The Persian Empire has waxed and waned over the years of civilization, but it has never failed to exist. Right now Iran appears to be quite content in staying out of Arab affairs, with the exception of their co-religionists, the Shia Arabs in Iraq. But most of the holy Shia sites are actually in Iraq!

Iran endured missiles devastating Teheran for years from Saddam, and he didn't get those at WalMart, either...10 years of war where the "human wave" was used to stop the Iraqis on the front. I'd hate to get involved, myself. I cheer for underdogs, usually, and for the Iranians, save their anti-Bahai and anti-Yaziri and anti-Zoroastarian policies, seem an altogether decent lot -- get the Ayatollahs out and it would be a fine democracy.

It is a shame they have an idiot for a ribbon-cutter -- je m'ajuste -- "President," but so do we, and ours actually controls the military!

Iran is about one quarter of the contiguous US and has about 1/4 of our population as well...almost 80 Million. This is larger than Germany or France! Want to go to war with them next? We won't even talk about the mountains...

the way the news readers on TV repeat these bogus claims and NEVER QUESTION ANY OF IT! Even now after the Iraq quagmire they STILL do not question the BULLSHIT! :grr:
