Veterans stage protest outside Hall's event

NEW YORK — Members of the Gathering of Eagles veterans group, rounded up by Kieran Michael Lalor of Peekskill, a Republican who will be challenging Rep. John Hall, D-Dover Plains, for his 19th Congressional District seat, protested last night outside a fancy fundraiser for Hall in Manhattan.

Held in the Upper East Side home of deep-pocketed Democrat George Soros, the fundraiser drew criticism from the protesters because of the host's ties to MoveOn.org, a liberal organization that has criticized the war in Iraq.

Lalor, an Iraq war veteran, organized the rally to attack Hall's image as a moderate, grass-roots congressman.

"George Soros is anything but moderate," he said. "He is a far-left fringe liberal."

Hall declined to comment on yesterday's protest.

and not as influential and dishonest in American politics. I'll side with those who love democracy and not fascism. After all, one is American in spirit, the others are more in tune with aristocracy and monarchy. 8. He's an ex-Marine who has spent some time lobbying for the war and for veterans issues.

The AFL-CIO mentioned him as a possible challenger to Hall a while ago, but I didn't think he was running. Hall has a pretty big stack of cash going, so he's in pretty good shape for 08.
