There is one word that the powers that be have determined does not belong in our national dialog. They have decided that the F-word is so offensive that it can not be uttered on their networks. You may think I am talking about the word fuck, but I am not. We hear the word fuck in mainstream media constantly, we even hear it on network television they just cover it up with a bleep but everyone knows what they are saying. We have all heard the word fuck used so many times that very few people even are offended by it any more, I can say fuck over and over again and few people are going to even notice or care. Fuck is no longer even a dirty word, it is a word that was accepted into casual language long ago and while many pretend there is a stigma around it few of them are actually offended when they hear the word.
There is one f-word however that people do flip out when they hear, it is one f-word that seems to hit just a bit too close to home.
Fascism is the real f-word. It is the word that our media has long forbidden from entering the national dialog. We were told to believe that fascist ideology died with Hitler and Mussolini, but we are not supposed to think about the fascism that exists right now.
And yet we are living in a society in which our government has decided that they have the power to suspend habeas corpus and detain people without charges and without access to a lawyer. Our government has tortured, they have electric shock, waterboarding, sensory deprivation, and they have unleashed dogs onto helpless prisoners. And the victims of these acts are almost exclusively of one race and one particular faith.
When our government is treating one minority religious group under a different set of laws we need to call it what it is. This is not conservative ideology, this is fascist ideology.
It is not conservatives that want to turn this country into a place where corporations like Halliburton and Exxon are given free reign, it is fascists that want to do that.
It is not conservatives that want to be able to listen in on our phone calls without a warrant, it is fascists that want to do that.
It is not conservatives that invade other nations and kill civilian populations which pose no threat to the United States, it is fascists that do that.
We don't have a White House that is being run by conservatives, we have a White House that is being run by fascists.
Just like we are able to recognize the word fuck when our television networks bleep it out, we should also recognize when they bleep out the real f-word. They may not be willing to say the word fascism, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't say it. The truth can not be censored, and fascism must be defeated.
You may not be offended by the word you were always told was the f-word, but you should offended by the real f-word. Go out and offend some people, go out speak the f-word to them and tell them why they need to be concerned about it. Make them so offended that they will get in the streets and fight for our democracy. We can not allow the corporate media to bleep out this f-word.
