Abrams is ON A ROLL slapping down asshats
Now he has some "Abstinence Only" advocate. Abrams is slapping her around for her disingenuousness in the way she presents her arguments.

The foil for the asshat is Mamma! Stephanie Miller.

A thing of beauty, tonight's Abrams show.

1. Steph!
Also, Dan's little Christmas political ad was pretty funny.

Go, Dan! Go, Mama!

6. So just saying no doesn't work?
We have 4 to 10 times the rate of teen preggers than other industrialized countries ...
but a lower rate of sexual activity .... knowledge is good.

8. We're nothing if not efficient.
I find abstinence works best when you abstain from eating something you hate. Other than that, a waste of time and money.

... she was smoking hot and I wasn't bad @ the time .... she said
we have to wait ... it will make more special ... she was 18 ....

I bought her story until I caught her humping her "other boy friend"
from Cleveland.

5. Because it is selling... 25% doesn't pay as well as the rest of the population.
Expecially when about 20% are sitting in their mother's basements

7. Why now?
Why now, indeed.

It seems to me that CNN, Faux, ABC and CBS are pretty much unchanged.

NBC generally, and more specifically MSNBC, has been trending left for a few years now. Underserved audience? maybe. A hedge against a Democratic sweep in 08? Possibly.

But really .... who knows?

He's always been a liberal and I'm sure his father has something to do with that.

KO-Abrams back to back is compelling TV - I have trouble NOT watching Abrams now after KO (a must watch) is over.

9. I was surprised myself....
He has lost all patience with the righties...and is calling them on their bs and talking points on the spot, not even letting them finish their statements. That is journalism. Dan not only hhas the show, he runs the MSNBC network!

Edited on Wed Dec-19-07 10:03 PM by rocknation
That would explain the rumors about Rachel Maddow taping a pilot show for MSNBC--not to mention Tucker Carlson's non-contract renewal and Joe Scarborough being moved to the graveyard shift.

15. exactly
But as long as truth prevails, I'm happy. I do not want a left brand version of FOX. Just insist on the truth in all the discussions, Dan, and let the chips fall where they may. If Dems are harmed by truth, so be it. The people want honesty.

14. I sometimes thought he was fair in the 90's. He has disgusted me in
the 2000's. So I call him for what he is - a pimp for profit - do you have any idea how much he solidified the people who were in the middle against Democrats in the last seven years. He is a pimp. I don't appreciate him or MSNBC. Keith is genuine. He is an exception.

16. How did he "solidif(y) the people who were in the middle against Democrats"?
Edited on Wed Dec-19-07 10:56 PM by blondeatlast
His father was a very famous civil rights attorney (Floyd Abrams) and he's never betrayed those roots to my knowledge at all.

Please do explain--one of us is thoroughly mistaken.

followed all the directions from the WH. GE was complicit in the strategy to sell the war, generate hate, accept executive orderss and signing statement type betrayals of the citizens and the Republican leadership. He worked against Democrats because he and they were completely groomed to aid and abet Republicans. How can I document any of it without spending tons of hours watching film to comply with your request. He provided the same old harangue and take down of Dems for seven years. I churned in my stomach listening to him. Additionally, while some of our kids were coming back dead or a wreck, they took the spotlight off the uglies of war by taking us to Aruba. Name any investigative threads he followed that helped the country and our Constitution since 2000 - until now. He is and has been a Republican hack no matter who is father is or was. He changed to a raving partisan. No holding back. I'll probably not be able to regain respect. My disdain is serious, because he did their job for thm quite well before and after he got his promotion. I don't have time to show you the proof of the way he helped Republicans - perhaps you can tell me, show me how he provided or demonstrated neutrality since 2000.

am entitled to it. It is utterly ridiculous to ask me to prove it. Why defend a Republican facilitator. He dropped the non-partisan ethic of journalism for seven years.

Here are two antecedents.

GE bought NBC to be able to control the news - a Republican playbook strategy from several decades back.
GE profits from war and makes war weaponry and more. They use NBC to help wage wars.

NBC, under GE, clobbered, knocked, sneered, and insulted Democrats while promoting Republicans and Abrams was no exception.

Olberman admits that the sea change for his acceptance and survival is viewership/profit.

THere is a difference between observed and translated impressions and proof.
There are many on this forum who have said the same as I have.

18. He sharpened his chops on CourtTV; always stressing the importance of the law
and precedent--and the rights of the accused.

That's why he can smack the RW Cadillac Men like May--he knows the law and they just pull stuff out of their sphincters.

19. I was impressed
The woman that claimed that comprehensive sex ed was ineffective was an idiot.

Abrams was pretty good. He said that abstinence can certainly be included in the discussion, but by itself it is useless.

I saw a little bit the other day where he was also attacking this administration over torture. He's always struck me as a sharp guy, but he seems like he has been wasting his time on the "murder of the week" ala Nancy Grace.

I loved "Bush League Justice" last week and thoroughly enjoyed the May slap-down as well as the 'abstinence only' segment. His show is getting better.
