News flash! News Flash!

Regarding the Bush Crime Family�s porn collection � the videos taken during the C.I.A. torture sessions of Afghan cab drivers, Pakistani goat herders and mentally retarded Taliban burkha makers � it is now known that at least four top capos in The Family, all lawyers, gathered in The Family�s inner sanctum and discussed the absolute necessity of destroying the videos, even though a Federal Court judge had ordered otherwise.

But . . . but . . . that would mean it�s a safe bet that every statement from The Family�s mouthpiece � Dana Perino � regarding torture policy has thus far been a lie. In fact, the insistence by The Family � as recently as this week - that no White House official had been involved in discussions of the torture tapes, except maybe offhandedly to comment to someone (possibly in passing while washing their hands in the White House john) �Torture tapes? We have torture tapes? No! Where?� is turning out to be what we used to call in the old neighborhood �a fuckin� lie.�

Whew.

According to the New York Times, �those who took part . . . included (former Attorney General) Alberto R. Gonzales, who served as White House counsel until early 2005; David S. Addington, who was the counsel to Vice President Dick Cheney and is now his chief of staff; John B. Bellinger III, who until January 2005 was the senior lawyer at the National Security Council; and Harriet E. Miers, ( a Bush Supreme Court nominee) who succeeded Mr. Gonzales as White House counsel.�

Wow. That�s a heavyweight list of Family members, don't you agree? And all involved in a conspiracy to break the law, obstruct justice, suborn eventual perjury, on and on and on. Today, the White House press secretary, Dana Perino, issued a statement saying �The New York Times� inference that there is an effort to mislead in this matter is pernicious and troubling.� Only, the way she said it sounded like this:

�Thenewyorktimesinferencethatthereisanefforttomisleadinthismatterisperniciousandtroubling.�

Another example of what we used to call in the old neighborhood �a fuc . . .� well, see above.

The Times reports that two of the clutch of goombahs who have decided to rat out their associates �also provided new details about the role played in November 2005 by Jose A. Rodriguez Jr., then the chief of the agency�s clandestine branch, who ultimately ordered the destruction of the tapes. The officials (c�mon, their goombahs!) said that before he issued a secret cable directing that the tapes be destroyed, Mr. Rodriguez received legal guidance from two C.I.A. lawyers, Steven Hermes and Robert Eatinger. The officials said that those lawyers gave written guidance to Mr. Rodriguez that he had the authority to destroy the tapes and that the destruction would violate no laws.�

Now, that�s pretty cool. You want to break the law? Violate your oath of office? Commit really, really serious federal crimes and get away with it? Just get some �legal guidance� from a couple of C.I.A. lawyers and run with it.

You know what? I�m starting to admire these thugs, this Bush Crime Family. Man, these guys � and their broads, too, apparently � have balls this big. Like soccer balls. Basketballs. I mean, Jesus. Nothing, absolutely nothing, stops this Family. Nothing. Even when inner circle associates rat them out, they keep going. Incredible. Give �em credit!
Yeah, like we used to say back in the old neighborhood: �What the fuck?!�
