Howard Dean on CNN just said democrats didn't end the war because they don't have the votes.

70 senators voted for the funding...why wasn't it closer?

2. You have a lot of "middle-of-the-road" Dems who can't stomach a fight.
If you had an anti-war Democrat in the White House, that person could act as cover for these middle-of-the-road types to vote against the war. They are followers, not leaders. That's why they're generally called moderates.

3. Defunding is not going to happen, and I don't blame Dems for not doing it.

7. Doggie, defunding isn't even necessary
If our party "leaders" would just show some spine, Bush would have to cooperate with us. In any event, it is not necessary or helpful to vote for a blank check for Bush. That moves the ball in the wrong direction.

6. Just an FYI

Wrong DOB for Jefferson, he wasn't born in 1762.

He couldn't have been 39 when elected President or 14 in 1776.

He was born April 13, 1743 and died July 4, 1826 at age 83
