Gang-Rape Cover-Up by U.S., Halliburton/KBR
Gang-Rape Cover-Up by U.S., Halliburton/KBR

From ABC News:
A Houston, Texas woman says she was gang-raped by Halliburton/KBR coworkers in Baghdad, and the company and the U.S. government are covering up the incident.

Jamie Leigh Jones, now 22, says that after she was raped by multiple men at a KBR camp in the Green Zone, the company put her under guard in a shipping container with a bed and warned her that if she left Iraq for medical treatment, she'd be out of a job.

"Don't plan on working back in Iraq. There won't be a position here, and there won't be a position in Houston," Jones says she was told.....

..................................

According to her lawsuit, Jones was raped by "several attackers who first drugged her, then repeatedly raped and injured her, both physically and emotionally."

Jones told ABCNews.com that an examination by Army doctors showed she had been raped "both vaginally and anally," but that the rape kit disappeared after it was handed over to KBR security officers....

7. Why would the Army doctors turn the rape kit over to the Halliburton mercenaries?
I don't get it.

8. For the same reason the CIA got rid of the torture tapes
Evidence is so much more convenient for the perps in destroyed form.

12. Evidently, KBR was conducting the investigation at one time...
Jeez, talk about the fucking fox guarding the hen house!

From the article:

In a statement, KBR said it was "instructed to cease" its own investigation by U.S. government authorities "because they were assuming sole responsibility for the criminal investigations."

So there are some government officials who must have been complicit in covering this up, also.

And this tops it all off:

Halliburton, which has since divested itself of KBR, says it "is improperly named" in the suit.

So they think they can keep this case out of a courtroom here, just like they can jackboot all over Iraq, with no accountability whatsoever. What kind of hellions did we unleash on that poor country, in our name?

18. Because the command structure is in bed with the mercs.
That's how most of these contracting companies got their contracts in the first place, isn't it?

10. They are trying to make her go to arbitration! What bullshit!
Arbitration clauses are bollocks to begin with but rape charges should certainly be excluded from them.

14. Where they know they will shut her up!
More from that article:

"In recent testimony before Congress, employment lawyer Cathy Ventrell-Monsees said that Halliburton won more than 80 percent of arbitration proceedings brought against it."

This makes me so mad, I gotta get out of this thread, before my head explodes!

16. I seriously feel like I am going to vomit.
I am so damn sick of reading one after another of these stories. This shit has got to stop.

Raped and sodomized, huh? There is no punishment cruel or unusual enough for the sub-human filth that commit these sorts of acts.

I can't think of anything that would be harsh enough.

17. Just when I think I couldn't possibly hate Halliburton/KBR more
My heart goes out to Ms. Jones. May she get the help and support she deserves, may she receive the attention of Congress that is needed, and may she find the absolute BEST team of lawyers to suck every cent out of this company as possible.

As for the rapists, may karma kick their asses on a regular basis.

19. K*R & Happy Birthday
I turn 39 next year too;)

Here's the link for the Jamie Leigh Foundation for sexual assault.

I just read the AfterDowningStreet web site and there's an interesting comment by an attorney who predicted that evidence would not be found. He said that if that were the case, it would constitute evidence of conspiracy to cover up the crime, a serious matter. This one is hot.
