Bush is not backing off an inch from his delusion
http://noquarterusa.net/blog/2007/12/04/neocons-go-ballistic-on-iran-nie/

When you do an NIE it is incumbent on the writers to clearly state whether there is consensus or dissent. And if there is disagreement then that should be reflected in the text. In the case of the October 2002 abortion, the NIC editors should have noted that there was disagreement in the intelligence community about Iraq’s efforts to rebuild its nuclear program. They should have written something like, “analysts at the CIA and DIA believe Saddam is trying but analysts at INR and DOE believe the evidence points to non-nuclear activity”. Instead, the NIC editors let stand the misleading notion that Iraq was rebuilding a nuclear weapons program even though all agreed that Iraq was not trying to acquire yellowcake uranium from Niger. The senior NIC officials failed to do their duty in 2002.

Not the case today. The NIC stepped up and refused to budge despite repeated efforts by Dick Cheney and his minions to gut the effort. This happened thanks to the convergence of several factors. First, most of the Bush neocon ideologues are gone–Wolfowitz, Feith, Bolton, Wurmser, Libby, etc. Second, the Democrats control the House and Senate Intelligence committee and were receiving reports from analysts about the bullying by Cheney and others who were trying to sandbag the conclusions. Third, senior intelligence officers learned the lesson of 2002 and returned to the tradition of telling the President the truth, no matter how unpopular or unpalatable. And finally, this Administration’s days are numbered and the analysts can read the tea leaves. They know there is no percentage in pandering to power by serving up half-truths and wishful thinking.

But let’s not celebrate too strongly. It is clear from the Bush presser today that he is not backing off an inch from his delusion about the Iranians and his commitment to do something about them...

9. Beat me to the punch, Herbert. They are of deeply related psychological makeup.
It sticks out and has stuck out from Day One like a sore thumb (admittedly, the depths didn't become clear until late 2000, and even then I underestimated how crazy and Hitler-like he was).

It is simply amazing to me that so very few people see it, even now no more than 10% do. I mean, he is hated by half the nation at least, but for other reasons than the most dangerous reason...he's a sociopathic personality and a criminal.

But as Sebastian Haffner came right out and said in his book that he figured out Hitler "by using his nose" and that he was amazed that so few others could "smell" it, rhetorically-speaking.

As it was then, it is now, may God help us all.

10. Bush created his own "Reality" about Iraq, like Hitler did about
Poland in 1939. You can depend on Il Douche jr...to lie, every time, he steps in front of a mike and camera! Jr. gets a big kick out of fooling the fools over and over again, Chancellor Hitler and El pResident Benito did too!

"Don't Forget Poland" WAS, one piece of Good Advice that Bush passed on.(remember what happened to Austria, Sudetenland, Czechoslavika and Poland)(the old USSR may be next and it was about Gawd, insanity, arrogance, oil and greed then too)

2. And what legitimate reason is Congress giving for not impeaching Bush and Cheney?
It's obvious they are attempting to drag us into another war without cause. They've already done that once with Iraq. Now they're giving the American people misleading information and raising tensions around the world.

Not enough time is not an acceptable excuse for not starting impeachment proceedings immediately.

Neither is not enough votes.

Not enough courage and not enough conviction to do your job properly are.

IMPEACH! What is going to have to happen before Congress gets off their sorry asses on this?

6. A much *DIFFERENT* Congress will have to happen.
> What is going to have to happen before Congress gets off

A much *DIFFERENT* Congress will have to happen. Not "more
Democrats"; they're too cowardly, too busy "keeping the
powder dry" to risk their cushy careers and perks by
actually *DOING* anything.

We need a different Congress, comprised of a much different
sort of politician, one with far more guts and a much firmer
willingness to do what's right simply because it's right.

WOR-AM in New York. One of the women made a comment about "George Bush trying to get out of the war that he started." Immediately, the right wing host and some others attacked her saying that she sounded like "a typical Democrat." He then went on to say that the Democrats authorized and encouraged the "war." He said it so convincingly that it was obvious that he had no doubt that this was the "truth." He and all the other right wingers have already convinced themselves that the Democrats forced peace-loving Gorge Bush into attacking Iraq and are working on forcing him into war with Iran.

It's so astounding. You can't believe your ears when you hear this crap!

7. No he hasn't, because they might, at some future point in time, think about
having a nuclear weapons program. I've thought about a lot of things, many of them illegal, but I really haven't been tempted to act on them. The thought police, coming to a station near you.

8. It's important to keep in mind that he's right and we're all wrong.
Without that key hinge, it's really hard to understand the Bush presidency.

Like most 2-year olds, understanding and negotiation are mostly out of reach.

14. I don't think his pride, arrogance, and out right ego mania would ever allow him to back off when
proved to be wrong. That's why we have the Iraq war and all of the other insanity that has been going on since he was elected. One bad leader can really screw up a country.

17. A perfect thread for the classic Colbert Quote..
"He believes the same thing Wednesday that he did on Monday. NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENED ON TUESDAY!"

BTW, go watch that Colbert WH correspondents dinner video on YouTube if you haven't seen it in a while. It's so freaking amazing that Colbert said all this stuff straight to Bush's monkey face. I hope it's placed in the Library of Congress, because it's certainly a historical document, it marks the time perfectly.

21. In my work as a clinical social worker, I interviewed hundreds of
patients who were alcoholics. Not one admitted on the intake questionnaire that they were "alcoholics". Not one out of the hundreds that filled out the questionnaire.

Bush is in the same state of denial. The man was already in bad shape mentally before he became President. The Commander in Chief experience has only exacerbated his mental problems. He needs
psychiatric help.
