Regarding Republicans and taxes...
the raising of taxes seems to be the one thing that gets all of the rethuglican supporters' heads spinning.

I mentioned this earlier, but thought I would post it again as it seems so appropriate.

I was watching the movie "Kismet" recently, and there is a scene that takes place in the market place. The market is full of beggars who are begging for change. If a person does not give them money, they put a curse on them. The main character asks a man for change and he says, "No -- I'm a businessman. I don't give money to beggars." The beggar curses the man a couple of times with no response and then says,

"May your taxes be raised!"

The businessman immediately pulls money out of his pocket and gives it to the beggar. The other beggars see what has happened and this becomes the new "curse" as the businessmen would certainly rather pay the beggars than have their taxes increased.

To me, that is a perfect example of what the rethuglicans are all about. They would sell their souls rather than have their taxes go up.

1. Republicans never really cut federal taxes
...They just defer them to future generations. The bill has to be paid by someone.

2. I'm no Republican, but on the subject of taxes...
I'd better NOT have my taxes raised until the BS in Iraq is ended, and all the pork goodies and bridges to nowhere are eliminated.

3. Question for Repubs and Conservatives:
how did you suppose the US was going to pay for the massive debt politicians you voted for have gotten us into?

5. Excellent question that should be asked all the Republican..
candidates.

Just how do they plan on paying for this debt? Then they spin some BS about the % of the GDP, as if the entire GDP belonged to the Republican Party to use as collateral to pay off their huge debt?

6. They Complain about Frivolous Spending and Taxation
yet they never seem to answer the most important question of all. Now that you all got us into this mess AGAIN, what are you going to do to about it?

crickets

They set the little guy up for massive inflation, a disastrous debt and then bitch taxes. I'm a little sick of their game and want this government to do something about it.

4. I've been thinking about how to play this.
Once we are back to sanity, pass an appropriations bill each year to 'pay the bush administration debt'. Make sure there are bullet items that even Republicans can understand:

Interest on debt (compared to what it was on January 22, 2001)

Paying off the debt in 8 years (compared to what the payments would have been starting on January 22, 2001)

Don't allow another single thing in the annual legislation except for paying off the bills The Decider has run up.

Taxes are going to have to be raised because we are the party of fiscal responsibility. We just need to get the truth out there, week after week.
