1. Other--SOME, not 'all'
I think Trent is retiring to make more dough. Kay Bailey Hutchinson is retiring to run for Guv-nah (she'd better get some better wigs).

Hastert? Sure, could be...probably IS, with that little 'gymnasium' the former wrestling coach was operating out of his DC townhouse--all those handsome young aides living with him....

2. Not sure
but I suspect if trent lott is getting sex he's paying for it.

I believe trent is leaving because he's too damned important to be just one vote in an ever shrinking minority in the U. S. Senate and he does not want to deal with a Dem President.

Oh the irony, if Flynt has pictures of these knuckleheads or whatever, it would be there "kind" who would be carrying the pitch forks.

3. Naked Greed and grief over lost power are clearer links.
The articles have pointed to a change in the law that forces former elected officials to wait longer to cash in. There is a clear echo to the retirements of Democrats after the 1994 election changed the balance of power.

I don't see evidence of any link at all with Flynt's offer. When their caught with hookers and other women, they just go cry in church that they were tempted. Their wives and constituents forgive them and they go on. The closeted gay thing seems to be a career killer, but all gay bashing Republican's can't bee closeted gays.

So I will stick with greed and grief for the time being because the links are clear.

5. That is the typical scenario when the scum are exposed
I am thinking Flynt may have concluded it would be better to expose them right before a big election for greater effect and the thugs knew it wouldn't be good to wait until then.

8. You could be right...
But without any real evidence, I will continue to stick with the known factors until Flint makes his move.

7. I agree, they know the odds of winning back the house and senate are bleak.

4. ME! What are the odds that 18 Reps/Senators would decide to resign this year? How many names did
Edited on Mon Nov-26-07 03:27 PM by in_cog_ni_to
Larry say he had? 30+ wasn't it? Last I heard the number was 17, so Lott makes it 18!!! I'd say every last one of them visited Madam Palfrey for a female or male massage or escort.

6. Who knows? so far only one big name has been named--Vitter and he didn't resign.
And there have been no demands that he resign. I'm waiting to see if he is going to name more names.
