Oh Oh another desperate Bush ally declares a state of emergency
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/7084357.stm

<snip>
The first full day of a state of emergency is in place in Georgia after clashes between police and opposition protesters in the capital Tbilisi.

All demonstrations are banned and only state television can broadcast news.

President Mikhail Saakashvili imposed the 15-day emergency after six days of opposition rallies, saying "Russian special services" were behind unrest.

The pro-Western president has rejected the protesters' accusations of corruption and says he will not quit.

The nationwide state of emergency was declared late on Wednesday after police used tear gas, water cannon and batons to disperse thousands of protesters in the capital.

2. WTF is that about?
Edited on Thu Nov-08-07 07:02 AM by malaise
Is that even a credible source?

If it is credible, is that connected to this
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7084462.stm
<snip>
Morgan Stanley, the second-biggest investment bank in the US, said its $3.7bn loss from exposure to sub-prime mortgages was expected to cut its fourth-quarter profits by about $2.5bn.

The bank also said that it could lose up to $6bn if all of its sub-prime mortgage-related investments went bad.

Morgan Stanley had already announced in September that it had written down $940m of losses, caused by problems in trading mortgages and corporate loans.

The other company with bad news was Washington Mutual, which is one of the country's biggest lenders.

Its shares fell 17% after the New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo said his office was looking into whether the firm put pressure on title insurers to inflate the values they put on properties, so that borrowers would be able to obtain mortgages they could not otherwise afford.

and this

<snip>
Charles Prince, the chairman and chief executive of one of the world's biggest banks, Citigroup, has resigned.

He will be replaced as chairman by former US Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin, while Sir Win Bischoff will serve as interim chief executive.

Investor calls for Mr Prince to go have increased since the bank reported a 57% drop in quarterly profits, after losses in the sub-prime mortgage market.

7. WTF?
There are so many language and factual errors in that, it makes my head spin that anyone would take that seriously. Reputable and credible sources have copy editors and fact-checkers.

Honestly, if thousands of people were being mass-arrested, especially on the streets of NYC, we would have heard about it, given that the city is home to eight million people and any number of DUers. If one man, this "Ambassador Wanta" owned $4.5T worth of assets, we'd know about it, even if he was Chinese. One bank account holding $4.5T, and $28T in others? Yeah, right - that would be somewhere about the sum of the world's currency there. Alan Greenspan attempting to steal $8T - in what, suitcases? Bill and Hillary Clinton are apparently arrested CIA agents fleeing to Ireland now.

I did find this amusing, however:
We also protest at people picking at our original research and posted reports
How dare we 'pick at' their original research?

I can't decide if you're high, a troll, or a self-promoter.

I wonder how billions of tax dollars the boys spent on this one:

Flag of Georgia.

It's pretty obvious Crusader symbolism.

11. e*Trade To Evaporate Today?
An alleged employee of e*Trade revealed last night (at another message board site) that e*Trade would fold today (Tuesday).

Weird, considering President Bush always tells us, "Our economy is strong!"
