Durbin and Whitehouse will oppose Mukasey’s nomination.
In an impassioned speech, Sheldon Whitehouse rejects the AG nominee who has no opinion on torture techniques. Dick Durbin joined Whitehouse in saying no way.

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) sent Mukasey a letter today, co-signed by Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and John Warner (R-VA), indicating support for his nomination.

How can John McCain support him? He knows what torture is and how it feels.

I always appreciate when Whitehouse speaks.

1. Because McCain is an asshole
He's delusional and probably thinks that if he supports torture, that'll get him the "we hate all brown skin people" vote. Warner doesn't give a damn this is his last hurrah, and instead of going out with dignity, he's finally showing his true colors. As far as
Graham is concerned, I think he's looking for the Brigadier General's star, and the more he proves his loyalty to Bush, the more likely he is to get it.

4. That's "hypocritical asshole"
Jon Stewart just showed a clip of McCain last night talking about how horrible torture is and how he disapproved.
