A Corporate Controlled Police State
---

The corporate media message is to just keep bashing our government while worshiping laissez-faire capitalism.
Brainwash the masses into helping the Corporatists damage our government to the point where it is unrecognizable and no longer representative democracy.
Confuse the masses with the notion that capitalism is a system of government until every public service is in private hands at 4 times the cost, including our military.

Many of our nation's citizens are dumbed down by the idiot box (TV).
Critical thinking skills were never learned.

We are being robbed while ushering in a corporate controlled police state.
Is there any hope for America?

5. I'm afraid that would only open the door for more government repression under
the War on Terror banner.

The sad part is that I'm finding it easier and easier to
think up any number of secnarios where *THAT* (millions of
deaths) is *EXACTLY* the result. :(

10. Public Education
Every concerned and informed citizen must actively participate in the direction of public education in whatever capacity they are able. We all have different priorities, time commitments and physical ability. But it behooves us to stay on top of the school boards. Know the curricula and fight it when it sucks. Join textbook review committees. Lobby for tax investment at all levels so classrooms are adequately stocked, teachers are paid an attractive living wage and good teachers are rewarded for excellence, textbooks are kept current and children are taught in a comfortable and exciting environment. It's one thing to respond to polls by agreeing that education is a top priority. It's quite another to take the time out of our weeks and months to become engaged.

Public schooling was originally mandated at the insistence of the robber barons. Any guesses why.

11. It is amazing
how many people believe that this corporate police state is being done for their protection.

I am still gobsmacked when I hear someone say, "If you aren't guilty, then why should you be worried that they are listening in to phone conversations?"

12. My phone convos & e-mails should remain private.
I know that the Tele-Coms have been tapping phones & flagging thousands of emails, since 2001. I suspect that Congress, Repugs & Dems, Charities, Professors & the Press have been checked out.

18. Tyranny comes in many forms.
The new techno-savvy madison avenue packaged police state looks nothing like the dreary retro-1930's classic totalitarian states of North Korea or Burma. We are under 24/7 watch just like they are, but we are allowed to carp about crap on the internets without fear of water-boarding, at least so far we are allowed to do this. On the other hand, public demonstrations of even moderate size are strictly controlled, public demonstrations in conjunction with offical state events are relegated to 'free speech zones', and in general a fairly strict media blackout of dissident behavior is observed by the compliant/complicit media. We maintain a public gulag that holds the current top prize for highest percentage of citizens incarcerated. We maintain a secret gulag of unknown size that incarcerates without charges and tortures an unknown number of people around the world. Our government spies on all electronic communications and has built a huge electronic database (see Total Information Awareness) that is being put to unknown uses. The broadcast media is completely controlled by the plutocracy. It is being used to conduct the most extensive and prevasive brainwashing campaign in the history of human civilization. Our elections are ripe with fraud and our election process is corrupted and controlled again by the plutocracy that is in power and controls both political parties and all branches of government. It is a very modern police state that we have.

You hold tight to that comfort thought that we are not Burma.

19. They are already starting to look angrily at thinking people. I've
noticed a strident attitude that gotten worse recently towards anybody that questions Bushista power. When you see people like Katie Couric--a fascist whore if there ever was one--rise up in the Media ranks beware.
