"Are you gonna bark all day, little doggie, or are you gonna bite?"
-Mr. Blond, "Reservoir Dogs"
Around eight months ago in one of my earliest reports <
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x1350169> I wrote about what I thought was the inevitability of an attack happening on Iran within weeks. Several soldiers at the time had given me indications that it might be soon. Thankfully, my sources were wrong or intentionally misleading and we haven't crossed that rubicon yet.
We find ourselves again hearing the war drums about Iran from all sides so familiar in tone and lack of substance as the Iraq war sale, that it staggers comprehension why they would use the same script?
I've been bold enough on (very) few occasions to ask the direct question of troops. "Is war with Iran coming, Are we going to attack? Are we going to invade?"
Despite what credibility I may have, gratefully, lost for not being right about the time frame in June of last year. The answer now, as then, is a resounding yes. It has been planned and re-planned, as well as this incompetent administration plans anything anyway, and the troops know it's on the itinerary.
Was George ready to go last year? I suspect the Lebanon campaign by friend Israel may have delayed things. I had one troop actually confide in me that he had orders for Lebanon pending, to be deployed as a stabilizing force. Maybe even as an invading force for Syria. Despite delays though it seems our decider has decided to go for it this year.
Is it saber rattling? Preemptive training? I've met troops that have indicated they were receiving training very specifically for an Iranian theater. I've met other troops that get very nearly no specialized training and get shipped right to Iraq or Afghanistan. This begs the question would the military bother to give very specific situation training about a theater they weren't planning on entering?
Take things I report always with a grain of salt. The info is as reliable as those giving it to me and I never usually know if it's a PFC or a COL. I'm talking to.
As far as the new, not so new but conveniently timed, reports of Iranian weapons, they are pretty much a "no duh" to our troops. I ask in wonderment a lot where the people they are fighting get all of the ordinance.
Many know that some is stuff that we should have guarded better. I've heard more than one tale of American troops or contractors being caught selling weapons out the back door to insurgents. Supply man gotta eat I guess. Still others say that the over the border weapon trade is a booming business.
I had one troop tell me that whole airliners of contraband routinely go back and forth to all points. Commercial and cargo and even aid planes are bribed and they can't be touched.
The timing is everything. 8 months ago many of the same accusations were being thrown around concerning Iran and Syria. As I've said. I'd hope for it to be it mere saber rattling if the troops weren't so damn sure it was going to go down. Many are becoming a lot more secretive about places and missions where in the past they would throw Iraqi city names around like nothing. Usually scrambling my brain trying to remember, much less pronounce, them.
Take the timing of the propaganda for what it is friends. This is the pamphlet that will be given to the american people and more importantly to history as to why we Will attack Iran. When I say history I mean that when 100 years has passed if there's anyone to look all that will be known from the media of the day is that George Bush "protected" his people from the evil people the "Terraists" by destroying their home country of SyrIranQ.
Whether it's in a month or a year friends, prepare. Do what you need to to protect your children. Prepare for flight from the potential carnage if necessary. Prepare to fight if that is where your conscience leads. The PNAC will have its world resource war. Probably to the ruin of us all friends. One humble shadow's opinions. Take them or leave them. Tip your cabbie.
Shadow out.
