Say something nice about a Democratic candidate other than the one you're voting for!
Edited on Sat Oct-20-07 06:29 PM by Pushed To The Left
They are all Democrats, after all!

I admire John Edwards for making poverty the focal point of his campaign.

Dennis Kucinich deserves credit for being a leader when it comes to progressive causes and opposing the war.

Hillary Clinton brought up the issue of universal healthcare back in 1992, when it wasn't as politically popular.

Chris Dodd is showing leadership by taking a very strong stand for civil liberties by threatening to block the FISA law if it is brought to the floor.

I admire Mike Gravel for taking a strong position against the "war on drugs" and for rightfully telling America to "grow up" when it comes to same-sex marriage.

I think Bill Richardson's political and foreign policy experience is very valuable.

I like that Joe Biden has a very detailed approach to solving problems and doesn't just tell people what they want to hear.

I want more than anything for Senator Obama to be our next President, but I would be very proud to have any of these great candidates in the White House.

1. While I have
not decided which candidate I will vote for in the primary, I believe that there are a lot of strong points with each one. I like the field of democratic candidates. And I like the idea of this OP/thread.

2. I'll vote for whichever one gets the primary. I think there are good things to say
about each.

I am not inspired by this group the way I was by Howard Dean - but I feel good about them all.

8. This is not a new theme, but
I'll chime in anyway:

Not a ONE of them would appoint a Supreme Court Justice anything
like the abominations that are Scalia, Thomas, Roberts or Alito.

Not a ONE of them will initiate an armed conflict for strictly
business purposes.

Not a ONE of them will ignore the fact that we are not the only country
on this planet, and that we are not necessarily the "best" one, either.

Not a ONE of them is a Bible-thumping religious nut case who claims to
know what God wants for America, and that what God wants for America
is happily identical to what their financial backers want as well.

I would prefer that Al Gore take his rightfully elected place in the
Oval Office, and realize full well that it will probably never happen.
SO give me ANY of the others over ANY of the Republican candidates.

There is no declared Democratic candidate I would NOT vote for. I refuse
to be a 2008 version of a 2000 Nader voter. Maybe they voted their conscience
back in 2000, but if their conscience is happy with the outcome and the
last 7 years, then we'll have to agree to disagree. I happen to think that
the country, and very possibly the planet, cannot afford four more years
of a Republican in the White House. I also do not agree with ANY "no difference"
argument. There's enough of a difference to warrant voting Democratic this time,
because realistically, either the Democrat or the Republican will become our
president on Jan. 20, 2009. If you think it's OK if it's Rudy Giuliani or Mitt Romney,
well, that's one point of view. It's just not mine.

9. Joe Biden's experience in foreign relations = GREAT man for Sec of State
He thinks things through and understands the nearly lost art of diplomacy. He would be a great asset in the effort to rebuild good relationships around the world. He wouldn't be bad at NSA either.

Bill Richardson would be a good second at state, DOD or even NSA. He is an experienced problem solver. We could use that in lots of places.

Dennis Kucinich really does care about people. Give him the task of liaison between Fed and local governments. He understands the problems of local governments who actually have to provide services to people He thinks outside the box and that would go a long way toward LISTENING to various local entities and brainstorming for new solutions to old problems which bush/cheney mismanagement exacerbated.

Hillary... hmmm, Health & Human Services. Oh, that'd be a fit. You go girl! Show the good ol boys that taking care of America means TAKING CARE OF AMERICANS.

DOJ with Dodd at the helm would be a far better agency. Restore the rule of law, from the department that is supposed to enforce that rule of law. Yeah, baby!

Obama: please build a better future for America by making sure young Americans get educations and inspiration. Guide the young and show them there is a good future to work for.

Mike Gravel - keep on trucking. The status quo isn't working and Gravel knows it. Time for reality based policy changes. Put the resources where the problems are, not pretend there are problems where the DEA & FBI wants to put the resources.

Guess outta this particular slate, I want John Edwards sitting in the Oval Office. He understands the concept of ADMINISTRATION and has already done a lot for the little guy against the giant corporation. We need that sort of experience to set the tone for how to restore America for We The People. The common man and woman has lost way too much ground in the past 27 years. It has to be turned around. John Edwards seems to understand that. A prosperous America is a safer, saner America. He knows we all do better when WE ALL DO BETTER.

13. I support Edwards for standing up to corporations, giving voice to the poor and protecting consumers
but I admire Dodd for being willing to filibuster on the FISA bill to preserve our constitutional liberties,

Kucinich for his unabashedly progressive positions and for introducing a bill to impeach Cheney,

Obama for blocking a bad Bush nominee and for his ability to motivate and inspire new voters,

Hilary for her strong support of women's issues and the rapport she's developed visiting many foreign leaders,

Biden for his foreign policy experience,

Richardson for being an inspiration to Hispanic voters, and

Gravel for being outspoken and calling it as he sees it -- no spin.
