Lucille Ball tells of Ronnie and Nancy Reagan claiming to see UFO
From "Lucy in the Afternoon" page 122-123

"We were very social at the that time. We loved to go to parties and have people in...One night we went to Bill Holden's for dinner, and it was fun at first, but we couldn't eat until two of the other guests arrived, and they were almost an hour late. The tardy two were Ron and Nancy Reagan. Desi had time for a few extra cocktails, and was sailing by the time the Reagans arrived. They were all out of breath and so excited and said they couldn't help being late because of what happened. Are you ready? They saw a UFO and stopped to watch it. After he was elected president, I kept wondering if he'd have still won if he told everybody he'd seen a flying saucer."

1. The aliens took his brain...sad, but true
We spent 8 years w/ a brainless president.

We are approaching that benchmark again.

2. Yep...
A B Rated actor whose best movie was Bedtime for Bonzo and a traitor that traded WMDs for hostages, and the provider of seed money to the "freedom fighters" in Afghanistan that turned out to be Al Qaeda.....

And how the RW loves to make him their darling....

P.S. I am sure we could add many more insane things to that list.

His son, Ron, turned out to be a great person. His son Michael turned out to be a schmuck.

20. I'm not a real daughter.
Kind of sad that a kid becomes a cartoon in hopes of becoming real. It's amazing the things that mold us into the adults that we become.

28. To the contrary. RR actually called Michael a "schmuck"
according to Michael's own book, "On the Outside Looking In."

Then, in Ronald Reagan's diary, there are these entries re: Michael:

Monday, Nov. 19, 1984
"One other sour note on Thanksgiving had to do with Mike R. He blew up at something on TV news based on an inteview Nancy had given. He called me and when I tried to straighten him out he screamed at me about having been adopted and hung up on me."

Monday, Nov. 26, 1984
"To top the day off, I called Mike R. We talked for half an hour and I'm more than ever convinced that he has a real emotional problem that is making him paranoid."

Thursday, Nov. 29, 1984
"Another call from Mike. He is a really disturbed young man. I've contacted his minister and believe maybe we can get through to Mike…"

------

Michael Reagan was banned from the White House when the Secret Service accused him of stealing knick-knacks.

46. Even more reason to despise Reagan
Rich, privileged bastard adopts a kid and then treats him as if he were a toy to discard and reject when he is able to have biological children. He should have been arrested for child abuse.

8. On the other hand, Reagan is only one of many notables who ....
have had these experiences -- including astronauts who have spoken about it.

And, many, many commercial pilots, doctors, lawyers, government officials -- etal.

The "tin foil hat" ploy seems to work well in keeping those who don't think very well for themselves anyway from doing any critical thinking on the issue --

In fact, just the other day there was new info on "listening for aliens -- "
didn't anyone see the article?

PLUS . . . some people understand that STAR WARS is actually about militarizing the skies --

There was an interesting book a few years ago called "The Day After Roswell" which is by Lt. Col Phillip Corso, who claimed to have seen the alien bodies and later on being entrusted with the "assets" of the crash and moving them into private industry from which we got transistor radios, computers, night vision goggles, etal --

No one mentions that the original hardcover of the book included a Forward by Republican Senator
Thurmond Munson -- who acknowledged that he had known about Roswell and aliens all along --
and he wrote with fear and disgust -- and about the need to arm ourselves.

Anyone who looks at the information from Rosewell and doesn't come away at least suspicious of what our government did there has to believe that an entire town is either hallucinating or the entire town is involved in a conspiracy to defraud their fellow Americans . . .

and, btw, make themselves victims of those idiots attacking with "tin foil hat" accusations . . .

Doesn't look like much fun --

I myself do not believe we are the only life in the universe. So what if Reagan said this?

There is thread here right now in GD with DUers having the honesty to discuss it.

On edit: clarification.

There is nothing specfically unusual about earth that makes it the only planet in the universe which can support life. But this discussion isn't about that.

Wow, I thought given the deplorable results of 'supply side economics' that there would be few to none to defend the senile old guy aside from freepers.

PS - Lucille Ball was the one reporting what the RW senile tool said.

34. That was utterly false
In 1936, she signed a form stating that she intended to register with the Communist Party for the primary election. But, as she testified before the HUAC when subpoenaed in 1953, she and the rest of her immediate family signed the forms to appease her grandfather, who wasn't so much a communist as a proponent of workers' rights. She said she didn't even know what she was signing; it was just "for grandpa Hunt."

The HUAC cleared her.

IIRC, she never even voted in a presidential election until she and Desi campaigned for Eisenhower.

25. where is Reagan being bashed?
or anybody being bashed in the OP? It is just a straightforward quote from a book that claims that Reagan saw a UFO. People can draw there own conclusions from it. Maybe he did or maybe he didn't. By the way, UFO's can be many things not only flying saucers.

45. I think Americans have been taught to fear any subject that isn't sports . . ..
Reincarnation, for one . . . seems to be more real than any "god" being taught in our organized religions, for one.

And, as for UFO's . .. we have something like 1500 people every year claiming not only to have seen a UFO, but to have been abducted, i.e., Barney & Betty Hill fashion.

Basically, it looks like certain parts of our government have been cooperating with aliens . . .

while other parts of government are denying their existence and trying to shoot them down in space:
Star Wars.

I'd like to see a UFO . . . but only with 1,000 other people . . something like the Phoenix sightings a few years back -- Wow! . . . the size of that thing!!!

Many people don't like talking about supernatural experiences. I have a friend who conjured up Abraham Lincoln, and I am sure she really did it. She was thinking so hard about him and he came to her room (she was a child). She said she was so scared she hid under her covers.
