Gates and Rice on TV claiming resolution *might* harm troops
Edited on Wed Oct-10-07 09:26 AM by Solly Mack
Vote to label the Armenian Genocide as genocide will potentially harm the troops.

"Not sure how Turkey will react" "It's a concern" - Rice
"The MRAPS are flying to Iraq via Turkey" "They are being flown in and we'll have to see how Turkey reacts"

No pressure Congress - just vote how you see fit. But we're not trying to influence your vote - don't think of this as strong-arming. Just think of this as advice. We would never say you're not supporting the troops if you vote for a resolution that causes Turkey to get mad at us and prevent the delivery of those MRAPS.

2. It's attempting to influence a vote
and carried with it the smell of "hurting the troops"

5. Bush is speaking now...starts off with FISA
and how Congress needs to do what he says to protect America

He fears protection of Americans might be extended to "terrorists" overseas if protections are "too broad"

Immunity..lack of...is a "big issue"

Congress has no higher responsibility than to protect Americans...(and fuck the Constitution)

Don't weaken the Protect America Act

Now on to Armenian Genocide Resolution...he's against it..and "we all regret" (the genocide) BUT...Turkey is our ally...shouldn't make them upset
