John Dean has been on the radio a lot, talking great sense and crossing boundaries to the core of the crisis (plural?) we're dealing with.

Talking about Watergate, the destruction of government, the rise of Authoritarianism, Process rather than Party....

but, white male that I am, I only tested at 76 on his authoritarian scale, well below the American average of 90. Some of the questions that raised my score seem questionable too. I notice they are kinda absolute, almost dogmatic. #6 for example, contains the phrase 'no doubt', #8 'absolutely, #11 'everyone', #21 'should be praised as brave' (just by being who you are and believing what you believe makes you brave? Should Bush/Cheney also be considered 'brave' for daring to go against the 70% of people who disapprove of their actions? I guess we should praise them for daring to be fascists.)

I'm gonna do more reading of both author's work. Very glad that Dean is out on the airwaves right now, to make sense amid the national delusional state...


I haven't looked at the "authoritarian scale" test yet. What yer saying is there's a range... which is perfect... because if we can accept a range of behavior and how it affects all of us, we can (try to) avoid the slapfights that prevent us from discussing how it affects all of us... maybe :thumbsup:

Including in those areas where you and I frequently see each other :hi:




And no, "daring to be fascists" is for paranoid booger eaters.
