War tax gets a thumbs down Politicians, voters dismiss proposal by Lieberman
Sen. Joe Lieberman, D-Conn., stoked the flames of a hot new debate among fellow lawmakers and taxpayers when he recently suggested a special tax to help pay for the war on terror. Lieberman's initiative could face considerable resistance on multiple fronts, however.

The special tax as envisioned by Lieberman would help pay for homeland security and military expenses, freeing up money for domestic priorities like education, health care and law enforcement.

Rep. Christopher Shays, R-Conn., said he would be extremely reluctant to support any new taxes.

"I wouldn't be advocating what he's advocating," Shays said.

3. I hate to say anything positive about Lieberman,
but at least he's willing to put his money where his votes are. Talk of raising taxes usually means political death. I have to give him credit for at least talking about this.

Not that I agree with the war, mind you.

5. Oh, he knows he's already the walking dead
politically, this is it.

CT will never re-elect him. And unless he's adopted by Rudy or John McCain, there's no political future whatsoever.

He will become what he's always actually been -- inconsequential.

6. Anyone else notice that
in this story where his asinine idea goes down in flame, the "D" suddenly gets attached to his name again, instead of the "I"?

7. Yeah, funny isn't it?
In the general election, he ran as 'I', but was the de-facto 'R'. Now he's suddenly 'D'.
