IRS Drops All Saints Case

Rector Ed Bacon delivered a powerful sermon this morning
at All Saints Church in Pasadena. The video of the sermon
will be on the website this afternoon. The press conference is at 1:00 pm pacific time
in the rector's forum at All Saints. There were e-mails from the IRS to
the Justice Dept. All Saints demands an apology.

On September 10, the Church received a letter from the IRS that simultaneously closed the dormant examination—without challenge to the Church’s tax-exempt status and without the audit ever actually taking place —and concluded without explanation that the sermon in question constituted intervention in the 2004 Presidential election. All Saints Church’s Rector, the Rev. J. Edwin Bacon, Jr. expressed great concern about the IRS closing letter and its implications for freedom of the pulpit at All Saints Church...(read the entire press release)

2. Yes, and all those faith-based monies that went to churches....
who told their parishioners to vote for Bush
in the last two elections.

3. If you want to help...
All Saints still has a legal bills...one of the reasons
the partisans who brought this against ASC was to bleed
us of some money as well as shut up liberal churches,
synagogues, mosques...
If you want to help, you can be a solidarity member and
send whatever contribution you'd like to All Saints.
