You betray us. A letter to the corporate media.
Dear Corporate Propagandists,

So today you are outraged. You are outraged not because a man sat before congress and promised the deaths of thousands of more innocents. No you not outraged that some man would brag about "successes" while people are getting slaughtered for no good reason. No you are not outraged about an illegal and immoral occupation of a nation that posed no threat to us, but you are outraged because some people would dare suggest that a man who has been a lead figure in continuing the atrocities in Iraq has betrayed us.

You may not like the name Betrayus, but we don't like the fact that we were betrayed. But we were betrayed again and again. We were betrayed by Betrayus, we were betrayed by the White House, we were betrayed by the Pentagon, we were betrayed by the corporations, and we were betrayed by you.

You betrayed us when we relied on you to report the truth, and you instead chose to report on the Weapons of Mass Destruction. We were betrayed by you when we asked for more journalism and you gave us more Ann Coulter. We were betrayed by you when you decided that the alleged crimes against Michael Jackson were worthy of more coverage than the war crimes that were being committed in Iraq. You betrayed us when you decided that getting top dollar advertising revenue was more important to you than informing the American people. And you betrayed us when you tried to present Betrayus as a reputable source.

While you rubbed your hands anticipating the Betrayus report, the majority of people did not anticipate it. While I can't speak for everyone, I can tell you the reason a good number of us did not anticipate it. We did not anticipate it because we knew exactly what it was going to say, and be honest you knew exactly what it was going to say too. You know damn well that Bush would never choose Betrayus for such a top position if he ever thought that Betrayus might say something he didn't like. Bush chose a man who in 2003 went to you to tell you that they found mobile biological weapons labs, but it turns out those "biological weapons labs" were actually weapon balloons trailers which were completely unsuitable for biological weapons production. Betrayus lied to you before, and yet you are more than willing to let him lie to you again. But not only do you let him lie to you, but you expect that we will let him lie to us. And so you get offended that someone at MoveOn spelled his name Betrayus.

Maybe someday you will learn that it is much more outrageous that someone would betray us, than it is for us to call someone Betrayus. Maybe one day you will learn that there are greater crimes in this world than calling a man who is currently leading a slaughter in Iraq a name. You can say it is an issue of respect, but let me be honest. I respect a lot of people, but I will not respect a man who lies to me. I will not respect a man who kills innocents. And I will not respect a media that refuses to report on the betrayal of the American people.

You demand we have respect for Betrayus, well we demand you have respect for the American people. We demand you stop obsessing about your bullshit outrages and start focusing on the real outrages. Stop betraying us and maybe, just maybe you will regain a tiny sliver of the credibility you once had.

Sincerely,
A Citizen

4. Petraeus sold his honor to enable Bush's war plans.
He deserves no respect and no politeness.
