So much for the "Decider" bs
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/09/02/AR2007090201422_2.html?hpid=topnews

During a private dinner at the White House to discuss how to buoy Bush's presidency, seven advisers voted to dump Rumsfeld, including Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, incoming chief of staff Joshua B. Bolten, the outgoing chief, Andrew H. Card Jr., and Ed Gillespie, then an outside adviser and now White House counselor. Bush raised his hand along with three others who wanted Rumsfeld to stay, including Rove and national security adviser Stephen J. Hadley. Rumsfeld was ousted after the November elections.

"Over here, Guys."

"Over here."

"Hey. Guys?"

"Guys?"

"Fuck off, Junior. We make the real decisions around here."

1. "I'm the decider. Now, just tell me what my decision is."

2. Why not use "Bible dipping?" Open up a page in the Bible, close eyes, point and then read.

Your decision is based on the verse that you chose. The theory is that this is what God wants even though it is much like asking Chauncy Gardner. In the Peter Sellers movie, "Being There," Chauncy only talks about actual gardening and everyone interprets his words to suit their tastes.

(In "Running With Scissors" by Augesten Burroughs, the crazy family he lives with uses Bible dipping to make decisions.)

It would certainly be better than relying on Bush to count the votes. We all know how that works out.

on edit: we are doomed.

3. I loved "Running With Scissors"
Right when it came out, I bought it at the airport in San Francisco and read it on the flight to NYC.

I enjoyed that book so much that I decided to leave it right there and not bother reading any more books at all so as not to fade the experience.

I used to read at least one book per week and haven't picked one up since. Must have been 2 or 3 years ago.

I also read the one about Burroughs' advertising and drinking career.
