Maybe it's time
Edited on Thu Aug-30-07 05:35 AM by Mythsaje
I come here and post a lot of my own thoughts about the issues of the day when I'm suffering writer's block on my fiction projects. It sometimes helps me work through some of the frustrations and leads me back around full circle to the stuff I've wanted to write since I was in 3rd Grade. DU has been a valuable outlet for me and I'm more grateful for its presence than I can possibly explain.

But I think I need a break.

It's beginning to seem like I've hit a bit of a wall here and maybe I'm just running out of steam. I can't maintain the outrage anymore. Not much point in posting anything if it's just "turgid" and "uninteresting," now is there?

So I'm going to take some time off. Not because I was offended by this critique, so much, as much as it is because I'm just worn out. If I don't have anything useful to add to the debate, there's not much point in trying. I've got my current fiction projects and I've just now started toying with the idea of writing a piece of non-fiction based on my personal philosophy about religion, politics, and humanity, and how it all intersects. Maybe I can find the inspiration for THAT somewhere inside me right now. Actually, it's the only thing that has kept me going for the last week or so.

I'm not sure how long I'll be gone this time. Maybe just until I'm struck by the next inspired rant that doesn't feel and seem forced. Who knows?

After two days of Craig in the bathroom jokes I just wish I could leave on a slightly better note.

But, what the hell...

I'll give it a shot.

Fuck Bush. Fuck Cheney. Fuck the Republican Party.

And long live DU.

Yeah...totally uninspired. I may feel these things, but there's no umph behind it.

Should anyone want to contact me for any reason, it's easy enough. There's a link to my website in my signature line and in my profile. Unlike many, I'm not exactly anonymous on the web. Can't afford to be. My name is my trademark.

If nothing else I'll probably pop back up as the primary season heats up, if only to give Edwards what support I can manage with my ham-handed style.

Be seeing you,

Saje

1. You know, the summer is slow for news
I noticed that the pages here were dull the last couple of weeks (with a few shining exceptions, which is why I keep coming back) but then thought that it might change after Labor Day, when there's more to talk about and more folks back from vacation fresh and chatty to talk about it.

Since I've been reading far longer than I've been posting I can see this is a pattern.

2. See you later.
Good luck with your writing projects.

Everyone gets tired now and then.

I may be around a bit less, too. I am needed away from the keyboard.

I am circulating some petitions for candidates. Our county fund raiser is coming up soon. Later, I will be doing some walking for a candidate.

We will be here when you get back.

5. "turgid" and "uninteresting"??!?
Edited on Thu Aug-30-07 06:40 AM by annabanana
Who said that?. . . lemme attem!!

I appreciate the concept of outrage overload, and I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to take a breather.. But anyone characterizing your prose and insight as "turgid & uninteresting" is stumping for a "self-reverential snob award" of some kind... and not to be taken seriously.

(seriously)
