New Orleans "She calls out to the man on the street"

She calls out to the man on the street

sir, can you help me?

Its cold and Ive nowhere to sleep,

Is there somewhere you can tell me?

He walks on, doesnt look back
He pretends he cant hear her

Starts to whistle as he crosses the street
Seems embarrassed to be there

Oh think twice, its another day for

You and me in paradise

Oh think twice, its just another day for you,

You and me in paradise

She calls out to the man on the street

He can see shes been crying
Shes got blisters on the soles of her feet

Cant walk but shes trying

Oh think twice...

Oh lord, is there nothing more anybody can do

Oh lord, there must be something you can say

You can tell from the lines on her face

You can see that shes been there

Probably been moved on from every place

cos she didnt fit in there

Oh think twice...

Thanks again to Phil Collins for the words
My heart to the people of New Orleans

3. It's heartbreaking to see these again.
And the citizens of NOLA are scattered to the four winds, even to this day. This is what America has come to under republican rule.

& rec.

10. Well...that's the last thing I need to see before I go to sleep tonight.
Kanye West was only half right.

"George Bush doesn't care about black people".

No Kanye.

George Bush doesn't care about any people.
Period.
I hate that sorry bastard.

There he was today with his "people in this part of the world" bullshit.

Hey MONKEY!

It's people in this part of the "country"!

Can he please leave?
Please?

11. These are still so difficult to look at.
And it continues to anger me that so many Gulf coast residents are not back home where they want to be.

Thank you.

13. Very Powerful Thread. I just got back after being a way for a
week and am reviewing DU threads.

This one is very moving. I am too late to rec but I will never forget Katrina and the complete and utter failure of the * Administration regarding this disaster. * and his cronies FAILED AMERICANS and failed the old, the sick, the young, the poor...the least among us. Sickening.

Who in America wasn't effected by Katrina? It is burned into my mind eternally and I wasn't directly involved.

15. Song for my daughter
The waters came down when the sun hid her face.
And we found, we’d have to fight for some grace.

There were mama’s crying,
their babies dying,
and you knew the moment had come
when they grew quiet
and the waters just poured down their face.

Those waters came down,
til every inch of that town
was graced with tears
for what can’t be replaced.

So I plead, lord,
I’ve striven hard and failed.
But just please, lord,
help my baby smile today.

These tears running down my face, lord,
they ain’t nuthin.
Please, lord, bring that child some grace.
Weigh the salt in my tears, lord,
I swear lord,
just let the sun shine on her face.
