Iraq Had A WMD
And it used that WMD whenever Opec raised its prices. Every time Opec raised the price of oil, Iraq would begin selling oil on the open market thereby destroying Opec's price hikes.

It was a weapon that has now been removed and since Iraq can no longer sell oil on the open market, Opec now runs up the price as much as it can.

Yep, bushco got rid of the only WMD Iraq ever had, and we are paying the price.

1. interesting point !
I'm quite fascinated by financial markets but I have a tendency to avoid $$$ or oil driven theories when it comes to US foreign military policy. It certainly weighs among other strategic goals.

3. Heh
Our military being used overseas is for purely financial reasons. In Iraq's case the only threat posed to America was a finacial threat being that Exxon et al were being kept from exploiting our addiction to oil.

Now that Iraq's oil no longer flows, Opec has been free to raise oil prices and allowed Exxon et al to exploit us.

You put Iraq's oil back on the market and the price plunges to $35 a barrel.

2. Saudia Arabia
As the world's biggest producer of oil and the nation with the largest reserves Saudi Arabia has the greatest influence over the price of oil... They can literally move the market at will...

4. Yeah
But what Iraq would do is undercut the Saudis, selling oil everytime the price rose, capturing the market and making a profit.

Ever since Iraqi oil has been removed the Saudi's have been selling their oil for twice and three times as much as pre-invasion.

It may even be true that bushco invaded Iraq at the behest of the Saudi's.... that we are fighting their war. Look who has profitted the most.

Follow the money.

11. Yes
But not a very well behaved member. Like I say, Iraq used to flood the market with their oil each time Opec raised the price, costing the Saudi's mucho denero each time.

Now that Iraq oil is off the market, the Saudis are free to let 'er rip.

10. It's just the price we pay for freemarketdom.
Where free market = corporate and government freedom to manipulate markets so as to maximize profits for a few at the expense of the rest.
