Arianna Bombshell! Libby's Wife was Dem Lawyer on Senate Judiciary Committee!
Edited on Thu Feb-08-07 11:04 AM by KoKo01
(Spewing coffee when I read that little bomb in Arianna's post today. Does anyone have wonders about possibilities Ms. Libby (aka Harriet Grant) could have been passing on to Scooter/Cheney? How much more do we have to see of this rampant NEPOTISM in DC before some rules are put in place? :grr:) ON EDIT: Doing a Google it says she was Lawyer for Dems when Biden was head of Judiciary Committee over a decade ago....so she wasn't passing any recent secrets to Scooter. Can't find out what she did after working for Biden...maybe she stayed home to raise kids or it just isn't posted out there. She was Dem Judicial lawyer who interviewed Anita Hill for the Hearings on Clarence Thomsas.

------------------------
And here's a little scene-setting: Jane, Pach, and I are sitting directly behind Harriet Grant (aka Mrs. Libby), a former lawyer on the Democratic staff of the Senate Judiciary Committee, who, I must say, has the most gorgeous long, thick, shiny hair I've ever seen. Every time she shakes her head over something in her husband's taped testimony (I can't say whether it's in consternation or in agreement), I feel like I'm watching a Clairol commercial.

Directly in front of Mrs. Libby is the defense table where Scooter Libby and his lawyers are seated. She and her husband frequently exchange sweet, knowing glances. Watching Libby, I'm surprised at the sympathetic figure he cuts -- at least until the courtroom is filled with his taped voice, and you suddenly are dumbstruck at how he thought he could get away with his endless fabrications. If Libby could somehow deliver his testimony in pantomime, it would definitely be worth the defense's while to put him on the stand. Failing that, I can understand the rumor that he may not testify -- it would take an unimaginable level of lawyerly ingenuity to find a way to reconcile all the irreconcilable stories Libby has put on the record.

6. Yes....and that was awhile ago....I just edited my post after Googling her...
Libby is married to Harriet Grant, a former staff lawyer for the Senate Judiciary Committee when the committee was chaired by Democratic senator Joe Biden. Libby and Grant live in McLean, Virginia, a Washington suburb, and have two children. <17> Libby is Jewish.<3> Libby's sister, Sandra Libby, is married to John Rendon, head of The Rendon Group, the Washington PR company responsible for the creation of the Iraqi National Congress.

16. Partial List of IP Blocks Used by US "Terrorist Surveillance Program"
this is helpful to the tech folks here and should be considered an addenda to the propaganda thread-it isn't tinfoil at all when it comes to hiding crimes behind the national security shield (which is a crime itself)

7. Here's One...and a description of her:

A pat before the plea
Libby, wearing a blue suit and white shirt, entered the court on crutches (he is recovering from a foot injury). His wife, Harriet Grant, a former lawyer on the Senate Judiciary Committee, was at his side, wearing an all black pants-suit, stiletto heeled ankle boots and a gray scarf, with sunglasses atop her head.

Just before Libby took his chair, his wife grabbed his sleeve with one hand and gave him a pat on his bottom with the other, then whispered in his ear. She took a seat just behind him.

Libby entered his plea in front of U.S. District Judge Reggie Walton, a former prosecutor who has spent 20 years as a judge in Washington. Walton was randomly selected among the trial judges at district court. The judge has recently overseen the civil lawsuit of former bioweapons scientist Stephen J. Hatfill against the Justice Department for linking him to the 2001 anthrax attacks.

5. The reason why the notion that Dems and Repubs are "the same" persists is b/c of things like this
To be sure, there are differences between the two major parties, but on several key aspects, they seem close.

14. As a friend of someone related to Libby
My friend is the nephew of Libby, and he's very very Democratic. Hates Bush and all, calls Bush a effing moron. So I'm not sure what this has to do with Libby being married to a Democrat, his brother (my friend's father) is a Democrat! My friend hasn't spoken to his uncle for a long time though.

I'm sure Libby's wife resigned from the Sen. Judicary Committee when Libby was indicted. I didn't want to pry and ask my friend what he thought of his uncle being indicted so I didn't ask because I thought that would be rude to do so.

Just saying.

17. She worked for Biden when he was Chair of the Committee over Decade ago
during the Clarence Thomas hearings. Biden worked his butt off getting Thomas through. Libby's wife interviewed Anita Hill for the hearings ...according to several Google articles I scanned. I can't find any current employment for her, though.

23. They are typical of the sycophantic blood-suckers that...
permeate Washington. They aren't loyal to any particular party, except the party of cold hard cash. They like running with the cocktails and weinies set, riding in limos, and reveling in their overinflated sense of power and importance.

27. I love DC
The problem is: everyone here is an attorney. And attorneys are trained to be able to stop and immediately represent the other side if they have to.

So, the party changes, but we all stay the same.

Good times.

Honestly, I don't know how to fix aside from dramatically shrinking government - which I am not in favor of.

32. I can only ponder what the spouses and children of some other BFEE criminals
have been up to over the years.

Examples that immediately come to mind:

Joyce Rumsfeld

Lynne Cheney

Liz Cheney

Yana Feith

Meyrav Wurmser

Barbara Ledeen

Danielle Crittenden (Mrs. Frum)

etc...
