They mean to immanentize the eschaton, in other words, through their actions, cause the events they think they prophesy from the Book of Revelation to occur–a lot of people will die so that Jesus finally returns.

...it's quite interesting actually.

The word eschaton has the same root as the word eschatology (of course). Eschatology is from Greek, and it refers to the study of Last Things–the end of the world. Thus, the "eschaton", in particular, is the end of the world itself. There is more than one form of eschaton, of course–there are spiritual forms, and even secular forms.

"Immanentizing" is actually misspelt; mea culpa. It should be "imminentize" (exchanging that first a for the i makes a world of differnce in meaning), and, of course, when something is imminent, it is all but upon us.

What we mean by imminentizing the eschaton is to make the end of the world a fait accompli if ya'll'l excuse me another foreign-languauge-borrow in the pursuit of erudition. In even simpler language, they want to cause the Christian eschaton–the second coming of Jesus Christ–to happen, much in the way you might imminentize a snack food by walking up to a vending machine and producing a palmful of change to insert in the little slot there, only with a whole lot of death, destruction, and travail.

Wordsmyth.net doesn't have have "eschaton"? Yah, maybe yo do need a better dictionary.

To grok the entirety of imminentizing the eschaton (which, for what it's worth, my browser marks both those words as misseplled), I'd suggest you consult either the Principia Discordia, the Illuminatus! Trilogy, or, failing those, your pineal gland.

12. The rapture is a joke. It isn't in the Bible. Nowhere, no how. It was a

dream a child in scotland had in 1843 or so and it was taken by her minister and turned into this crap. its total crap. People think its ancient but its only about 200 years old. Crap, crap, crap.
